Using Literature to Prevent Bullying

Funded Dec 26, 2012

This letter is to express my gratefulness for donating such an outstanding literature library on bullying and bullying prevention. The books are fiction and nonfiction and have been an endless source of discussion for my kindergarten and third grade classes. The books cover difficult and sensitive topics in an age appropriate way. The gift of having them in the class has been effective as I can access them quickly as situations occur within our class and school. The books cover subjects on friendship, caring for others, celebrating differences, cultures, and more! The National Geographic series has been especially helpful in reading nonfiction text to my young students on topics that they are interested in such as: dinosaurs, space, and animals. The books are colorful, relevant, and my students love looking at them and sharing their learning with each other. I have truly enjoyed using literature to teach my students. These specific books have launched a platform for themed project base learning, and has inspired a kind and caring group of students. Thank you very much for donating such a rich library for our students to grow in their love of learning. Thank you for your generosity.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Fischer
