Social Emotional Learning
Funded Sep 10, 2020I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donations that allowed me to purchase social emotional learning books for my class. Many of my students need the reminders that these books present to know that they are not alone in the way they feel. It is so much more important now that we are in a state of remote learning.
I use these books during morning meeting time or as a read aloud during snack time since I teach math and science. Students enjoy the stories and we have had many good discussions around the various topics. They have learned to be more accepting, have less anxiety, and to just be kinder. It has been a great experience!”

Almost Like Being At School
Funded Jul 29, 2020Thank you very much for your generous donations. I am using the white board for so many things. I use it to post the learning objectives and also to go over specific math problems that I notice the students are struggling with. I use it for my anchor charts, especially when the students contribute. The students also contribute to KWL charts and I add their ideas along with their names. I can take a picture of it and upload it to my drive and use it to share with the students. They enjoy seeing work that they have created. It is also magnetic and I hang things on it.
The light is helpful in making the board easier to see. It also helps me to see better.
The books that were included are very helpful and I read them to the students during the first weeks of school. They really enjoyed them and they prompted some good discussions.
Thank you very much!!”

Funded Jul 22, 2020Thank you very much for helping me with my remote lessons this year. This is an unprecedented year and it is the first time I have started the year remotely. The students I teach had the choice of going to school in a hybrid situation but because of circumstances they were not able to or chose not to. The teachers in our district are all learning how to use the technology and are spending countless hours creating lessons. The digital learning lessons that I bought with the teachers pay teachers gift card were a huge help.
To begin with, I purchased some "Getting to Know You" activities. It is hard when you don't meet students in person so I wanted to gain as much insight as I could. I was also able to purchases some self checking "Boom Cards". These are awesome to help build skills and the students love them! I also purchased interactive math notebooks, charts to post in Google Classroom and math forms to check progress. In addition, I also was able to enhance my Science curriculum by buying digital slides that are made to go along with the units that we taught in school last year. The interactive slides make it easier for students to learn about a subject.
Today we had a lesson that is usually tedious in math. It was "Division as Repeated Subtraction" . I found a lesson that students could use this to create a Snowman. We actually had snow flurries here this morning and the students were excited about the activity. I posted a picture of it in my photos.
Thank you so much for your generosity.”
