  • Embracing Diversity: Our Inclusivity Bookshelf Project

    Funded Sep 27, 2023

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to our project, "Embracing Diversity: Our Inclusivity Bookshelf Project." Your support has played a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and accepting atmosphere within our classroom.

Since the arrival of the diverse range of books you provided, they have become an integral part of our daily discussions and activities. These books serve as a constant reference point when we engage in conversations about the importance of inclusivity and ways in which we can create a more welcoming environment for everyone.

Our students have eagerly embraced the Inclusivity Bookshelf Project, and it has become a dynamic resource for them. The books are not simply gathering dust on a shelf; rather, they are actively utilized by our students. Each day, students select books from the cart and share insightful perspectives and lessons with their classmates. This daily ritual has proven to be an effective way to encourage open dialogue and promote a deeper understanding of the diverse world in which we live.

The impact of your donation goes beyond the physical presence of the books; it has contributed to a cultural shift within our classroom. By having these resources readily available, our students are constantly reminded of the importance of embracing diversity. They learn firsthand about different cultures, experiences, and perspectives, fostering a sense of empathy and appreciation for the richness that diversity brings to our lives.

Your contribution has not only enriched our classroom environment but has also empowered our students to become advocates for inclusivity. The daily sharing sessions have become a platform for them to express what they've learned and, in turn, inspire their peers to adopt more inclusive attitudes.

Once again, thank you for your generous support of our Embracing Diversity project. Your contribution has made a lasting impact on our students' understanding of inclusivity, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to creating a more inclusive and accepting educational experience.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Velazquez

  • Headphone Hope: Bridging the Sound Gap for Our Students

    Funded Nov 2, 2023

I trust this letter finds you well and thriving. I am reaching out to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to our project, "Headphone Hope: Bridging the Sound Gap for Our Students." Your support has made a significant impact on our learning environment and the well-being of our students.

Although we initially anticipated receiving headphones for our students, the vendor informed us that the earphones were currently out of stock. However, they demonstrated their commitment to our cause by sending an alternative that has turned out to be both thoughtful and beneficial. Instead of headphones, we received books and materials for a meditation class, which we have embraced with enthusiasm.

Incorporating these materials into our classroom routine has introduced our students to the practice of mindfulness and reflection. During designated reflection time, we guide the students in learning how to use their breath as a tool to calm themselves down. The benefits of mindfulness have been remarkable, fostering a sense of peace and focus among our students. Your contribution has inadvertently opened a new avenue for our students to develop essential life skills that extend beyond the academic realm.

The meditation class materials have provided a unique opportunity for our students to engage in self-discovery and emotional regulation. By teaching them how to cultivate mindfulness, we are not only addressing the initial goal of providing headphones but also fostering an environment that promotes mental well-being and resilience.

Your generosity has not only bridged the sound gap for our students but has also introduced a valuable aspect of holistic education. We are incredibly grateful for your understanding and support in adapting to the circumstances. The unexpected gifts have proven to be a blessing, enhancing our students' well-being and contributing to their personal growth.

Thank you once again for your kindness and commitment to our students' welfare. Your contribution has made a lasting impact that extends far beyond the initial scope of our project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Velazquez

  • Crafting Entrepreneurs: Empowering Students With Cricut Creativity

    Funded Oct 3, 2023

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation to our classroom project, "Crafting Entrepreneurs: Empowering Students With Cricut Creativity." Your support has had a profound impact on both me as an educator and, more importantly, on the students who benefited from your kindness.

Since receiving the new resources, our students have dived into the world of creativity with the Cricut Machine. One of the most heartwarming moments was when they crafted Christmas cards using the machine. The joy and enthusiasm that filled the classroom were palpable as they proudly showcased their unique creations. Your donation not only provided them with the necessary tools but also ignited a sense of pride in their craftsmanship.

A specific project that stands out is our "Santa to a Senior" initiative. The students learned how to make intricate greeting cards using the Cricut Machine and then sent them to residents in nursing homes. Witnessing their excitement as they contributed to brightening the holiday season for others was truly heartening. Your support not only facilitated their artistic endeavors but also instilled a sense of empathy and community service.

When the students first saw the materials, their reactions were priceless. Their eyes lit up with excitement, and the pride in their work was evident. Your contribution not only provided tangible resources but also boosted their confidence and self-esteem.

Looking ahead, the next steps for our students involve continuing to craft projects that have a positive impact on our community. Your donation has laid the foundation for ongoing creativity and community engagement, allowing our students to develop not only as artists but also as compassionate individuals who understand the power of their skills to bring joy to others.

Once again, thank you for making a lasting difference in the lives of our students. Your generosity has not only enriched our classroom but has also empowered our students to realize the potential they hold within themselves. We are truly grateful for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Velazquez

I work in an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. My students are enrolled in a dual language program. They either take Spanish or Portuguese. They face the daily challenge of learning two languages simultaneously. It is difficult for those whose parents don't speak the foreign language at home and can't assist with homework. Therefore, their instruction must be top notch! Although they face some challenges, they work hard everyday. The students have very diverse backgrounds and learning abilities. I have one student whose eye sight is debilitating gradually (almost blind), one is hearing impaired, one has Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), several with other learning disabilities, many who are average and some who are gifted. These differences pose many challenges in the classroom for a teacher who wants to reach ALL the needs of ALL the students. However, as different as they all may seem, they all have something in common: the desire to learn!
