New Laptop to Open New Doors

Funded Dec 31, 2014

Upon seeing their brand new, shiny computer every 4 year old in the room said, "OOOOOH, a computer! We can watch sesamestreet.org videos on that new computer." One child remarked,"Hook it up to the Smartboard. Make it big!" Their faces were beaming. They felt so lucky.

I use the Toshiba laptop on a daily basis to share videos with the children. I project the videos on the Smartboard so every child can see the images. The videos that I show are about children who live in places like Egypt, Alaska, and Kenya. I know that it is beneficial for our Bronxite children to understand that there are children all over the world that share similarities and differences. I am trying to teach the children to value and respect diversity and to accept individual differences amongst individuals and groups. I also videos about numbers, shapes and letters. It is with great pride that I carry out my responsibility to prepare this new generation with the academic skills that they will need. Your gift helps me do that. In this way, you and I are partners.

This new laptop functions so much better than my 10 year old laptop. When I use the new laptop, the video does not stutter and so, it does not frustrate my students. When I use the new laptop, the video does not take 10 minutes to load. They spend their time watching educational, multicultural videos instead of waiting for the video to load. They feel respected.

Bob, thank you so much! Your gift touched our hearts and made the littlest students in our school feel so loved. And, your gift will be used again and again for years to come.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Esther
