  • Calm, Cool, Collected!

    Funded Dec 2, 2024

Thank you for your generous contributions! I am really looking forward to being able to provide these tools for my students. The headphones are going to be especially helpful to their success as learners in our classroom.

I can’t wait to share your impact with you in time! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paul

  • Supplies for My Students!

    Funded Jul 8, 2024

My students have enjoyed having their own personal take home folders to take items to and from school each day. My students' families have been able to communicate with me using the folders. Our small spiral books have served as our poetry books. Students glue poems into their books and draw pictures to match. My students take great pride in getting to utilize their poetry books for demonstrating their understanding of the concept of pictures matching words in books. They also love reading their poems and tracking print from left to right.

My students love having their personalized folders and poetry books. It makes them feel special and important and demonstrate a strong sense of pride in their learning experience. As students' abilities grow, they will apply more skills such as identifying rhymes and words they recognize in their poetry books. They will also begin using more resources from their Take Home folders that I include using plastic sleeves. We are so grateful for your donations!”

  • Learning Community Rug

    Funded Jun 28, 2024

We love our stone rug! This beautiful classroom rug provides a calming tone to our busy classroom of 25 kindergartners. Students have their own stone to sit on when we gather on the rug. Each stone helps kindergartners navigate the concept of personal space and how to attend during learning time.

My students have loved our learning rug. They love going to their "stone spots" when we meet on the rug for community meetings, whole group learning, sing songs, and read alouds.

Our next steps for using the stone rug is to have stone partners. I want to utilize fun ways for students to move around the rug and find new partners to share their thinking with, develop speaking and listening skills and resolve conflicts. I am excited for continued use and exploration of the rug!”

  • Readers and Writers and Mathematicians In Kindergarten!

    Funded Aug 13, 2022

My students have loved our Alphabet books and character education focused books that I was able to purchase thanks to your donations. The playful language and illustrations that supports my students' learning of the letters has enhanced their engagement and enjoyment of books. The books focused on social emotional learning and character education has supported my students' ability to identify feelings and solve problems peacefully.

In my classroom, students read upon arrival to school, during reader's workshop time and sometimes when they complete assignments. I have a library that we build together that also includes cozy chairs, pillows and stuffed animals. I also engage students in interactive read alouds and shared reading whole group.

My students have also used clipboards for word and letter searches as well as shape searches around the classroom. This makes movement and writing accessible at once and we are very grateful for this simple, yet extremely useful tool!”

  • Alphabet Learning Fun

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to my project, "Alphabet Learning Fun"! We have been busy learning the shapes and sounds of letters and my students have especially enjoyed using letter play dough stamps and letter stamps. These tools are directly linked to literacy learning and my students often use them during free play time to apply what they are learning about letters. Some are even beginning to spell words they know and names of their classmates. These two tools are many children's favorites to enhance their literacy learning!

    Thank you so much!”

  • Big Book Bundle

    Funded Dec 13, 2021

My students love our Big Books! We use them to get a close look at how words match pictures in books and how readers can read the pictures and retell the stories they don't yet know how to read the words. Students can work together to point to each page with their big pointers, retelling the stories together.

In my classroom, we introduce and read together, our big books, then students have an opportunity to read and explore them during reading centers in their small groups with big pointers. Many students love taking turns telling each part of a book and pointing out things they notice on the pages together. Big books helps them to get acquainted with early literacy concepts that involve getting to know how books work and to practice retelling skills as well.

We love our big books! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paul

  • Alphabet Puppets

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

We love our alphabet puppets! Each week, we study a letter and the corresponding alphabet puppet makes an appearance. We discuss the letter and its sound, how to write it and what we know that begins with that letter. We also talk about who has that letter in their name. Students anticipate meeting the alphabet puppet of the week each week. We are finishing up with our last letter in the next couple of weeks and the alphabet puppets will be a choice during our play-based Choice Time.

The kids were in awe of the new puppets when they first saw them and eagerly await for the moment we meet a new one each week! We are so grateful for your help in getting our much-loved alphabet puppets!”

  • Kindergarten Alphabet Tubs

    Funded Sep 15, 2021

My students absolutely love the alphabet tubs! They are making great connections between letters and sounds using these fun tubs full of objects that begin with the correlating letters. I use them to introduce letters of the week and we go through each object, listening for the beginning sound in the object name. Next, students decorate letter books and add a picture of something that begins with the letter book letter by using the tub as a resource. The tubs allow them to be creative while having a resource to generate an idea of something to draw that begins with the letter book letter.

My students really enjoy using the letter tubs and take pride in taking care of the objects inside each tub.

I will allow students to explore letter tubs during center activities after they have been introduced to all of the letters. I know they will enjoy getting to explore them even more!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paul

In kindergarten, students are learning to read, write and share their math thinking. A teacher easel will allow for modeling early reading skills, writing and drawing on a large scale. Students benefit from strong modeling techniques including seeing how to point to each word as they read and how to form letters. The easel I chose includes storage space to store markers, pens, colored pencils, highlighting tape and other great tools used for instruction. Finally, the ridge allows for me to rest other boards for instruction on the easel. This is a must-need piece of furniture in my classroom!
