  • Homeroom Reading Heroes!

    Funded Jan 2, 2014

Thank you so much for the amazing donation of books for my homeroom students. The kids were amazed by the selection of wonderful books and could not wait to check out some of the new selections! It was wonderful seeing them all excited to read!

As a teacher, I have seen technology take over and books take a a back burner for students over the years. With a little motivation and the right selection, they get excited to read again and continue to see how wonderful books can be!

I am truly thankful to you for allowing me to add new books to my classroom library with which to enrich my students' imaginations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pierce

  • Practice Makes Perfect!

    Funded Dec 26, 2013

Thank you all so much for your generous contribution to my class. When the items arrived a couple of weeks ago, we had just returned from winter break, so it was like opening Christmas presents for our classroom! The students and I were so excited to see al the wonderful stickers to use for our math points, the new personal white boards, as well as the selection of white board markers for all of the children.

I have sixty students this school year for both math and science and we use these materials specifically for math practice. I was able to give each student their very own marker and choose a color from a box! That made them feel so special! With your contribution, we still have enough supplies to last through then end of the school year and the boards will be used by students well into the next few years as well. Thank you so much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pierce

  • Participate n Flip!

    Funded Jun 25, 2013

Thank you for making this project a possibility for my classroom. The students and I have used the camera several times to not only take stills but also to take video clips of them doing things in class. The funny thing is, as much as they shy from having photos taken, they love being video taped! I have captured my students doing such fun things as dressing up for Halloween homeroom competitions to dancing during math time, to singing in class to Dominic the Donkey! My silly students and I have lot's of fun as we learn, but we never underestimate the importance of the basics.

I am attaching some pictures of the kids in class as well as can be transferred over. I hope they make you smile as much as these kids make me smile every day. Thanks again for making this project a reality.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pierce

  • Creative Curriculum

    Funded May 11, 2012

Thank you so much for selecting my class to receive your generous contribution from the Donor's Choose website. The wonderful materials that you have helped purchase for my classroom will enable my students to create wonderful displays, booklets, pamphlets, and posters of the various topics that we learn about within our math and science curriculum.

This school year I have been blessed to have the materials and parental support to offer numerous projects for my students and enable them outlets of creativity which they so love. I am very happy that with your help, I now have the materials to be able to start the new school year with enough supplies to be able to offer my children color and creativity within their curriculum and take things away from their text books that will enable them to retain the information long term.”

  • Children Say Cheese!

    Funded May 22, 2012

Thank you for selecting my class to receive your donation of a new digital camera to use in updating our class webpage! I have attached pictures of some the things that we included on our webpage in this last school year so that you get an idea of the types of projects my students create and what types of pictures we upload to share with our friends and families. I teach math and science and so Itry to keep the curriculum as fun and creative as possible for my students with group work, games, projects, and competitions. They are always more motivated to learn when the learning is fun and creative!

Since our school district implemented their new classroom webpage, I am now able to post examples of student work and pictures of the kids doing their work in the classroom up on our page. It keeps their families in tune with what we are learning and gives them a peek into our daily structure!

Thank you for helping us get a new classroom camera to keep the pictures coming!”

  • Making Math More Fun!

    Funded Mar 19, 2012

Thank you most sincerely for choosing my class to make this donation of fabulous math enrichment tools to. The games, graphing books, and flashcards have been a wonderful asset to my math class and the children love it when I pull out something a little different for them to do that still relates to their math curriculum! So far, we have really enjoyed coming up with creative games using our overhead projector and the flashcards to help us prepare for state tests. We have also had fun playing integer bingo as a reward after quizzes! We have also started using some of the picture graphing books as reviews of concepts taught earlier this year to create fun pictures.

The children really enjoy being able to have fun activities involving their math curriculum and tanks to your donation, we have a chance to use varus tools to make learning more fun. Thank you so much for choosing my sixth graders to receive your donation. They absolutely love the fun aspects of math!”

  • Interactive Math!

    Funded Apr 23, 2012

Thank you so much for selecting my class to receive this great interactive tablet! It is always exciting to the students when there is a new way for them to get involved with the lessons I am teaching. This tablet allows for me to walk around the room and let the students complete a math problem or fill in an answer to a notes question from their seat and project it to the front of the room for the entire class to view. I am always in search of innovative ways to get the students more involved in heir learning process, and anything that is interactive is so much more fun for them to do.

I am most appreciative that you selected my class to receive this bit of technology to enrich our current curriculum. It will be fun to see what new and interesting ways we can use it throughout the school year!”

  • Literature for Language Acquisition

    Funded Dec 20, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donation of these wonderful books for my students! I am so excited to be able to provide a personal copy of Esperanza Rising each of my students in which they can highlight, write in the margins and make notations about new vocabulary. hen I told the kids that each of them would be getting their own copies of the next novel that we will be reading a class, they couldn't believe it. They were so excited to be getting a new book hat they could keep. To them, it is truly a gift

I truly appreciate your choosing my class of English language learners to be receiving these great books, and look forward to there arrival so we can get reading!”

  • Netbooks for Language Learning!

    Funded Sep 7, 2010

Thank you so much for selecting my class to receive this wonderful donation of net books to use in my classroom. This donation came right at the start of our school year and the kids were so excited about it and the expectation of using them when we began our portion of curriculum that incorporated essay writing and revisions, as well as research papers. I'd also anticipated that each child would have been able to start a folder to keep track of their common assessments throughout the school year to make their goals and keep track of their progress.

Unfortunately, over Thanksgiving, my classroom was broken into and my teacher laptop, and two of the three net books were stolen. I had one of them at home with me over the break. It was so devastating to come back from the holiday break and see my room in shambles and see that these precious things were taken from us.

I would still like to convey my appreciation to you, and your show of generosity for selecting our group of English language learners to send them to in the first place. I am hopeful that at some point in time we will be able to replace them and my laptop, and get back to our intended goals.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pierce

  • Math and Language Boards

    Funded May 5, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation of whiteboard supplies for my class! As I begin the new school year with an entirely new group of students, I am very grateful to have these wonderful markers, and erasers for them to use in partner work as well as on the front board in class when we solve problems together.

This year I have 70 students that are ready and eager to learn new things. Each of them has me for math and science. I am looking forward to having them actively participate in learning the 6thgrade skills that will make them successful on their end of the year state tests.

Thank you for helping us acquire some of the much needed supplies to begin a productive school year!”
