Drawing in 3 Dimentions
Funded Aug 15, 2024We express our deepest gratitude for your generosity in supporting our Donors Choose project. Your contributions allowed us to purchase Scrib3d pens for our Special Education classroom and STEAM class.
These pens have been an absolute game-changer for our students. They have provided them with a unique and engaging tool that has helped to spark creativity, enhance fine motor skills, and improve handwriting. The tactile feedback and customizable features of the Scrib3d pens have made learning more accessible and enjoyable for our students.
Thanks to your support, we have created a more inclusive and stimulating learning environment for our students. Your generosity has made a real difference in their lives, and we would like to express our gratitude.
Thank you again for your kindness and support.”

Funded Jan 17, 2024I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of an iPad for our special needs classroom. Your kindness will truly make a world of difference in the lives of our students.
iPads are an invaluable tool for special needs education. Their versatility allows them to be customized to meet the unique needs of each student. With a vast array of educational apps and learning programs available, iPads can help students develop communication, motor skills, and cognitive abilities in a fun and engaging way.
This iPad will be a tremendous asset to our classroom. We are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our students' learning journey. We are confident that it will open up new avenues for them to learn, explore, and grow in engaging ways.
Thank you once again for your generosity. Your support is deeply appreciated by both our students and ourselves.”

Giving Voice to Students
Funded Oct 18, 2023Thank you so much for helping with the purchase of this recording device. In the short time I have had it, I am already seeing student improvement. When a student has the ability to hear their pronunciation, it provides valuable feedback for improvement. In addition to the initial purposes of the device, we are finding that there are new and interesting uses for this device that enhance instruction.
The device's primary use is to record students as they read a passage. The recordings are then played back in headphones as they listen to themselves read. It's amazing how much more impactful it is when students find their own errors in speech and decoding as compared to having it pointed out by the teacher. In the short time that we have had this in place, the Speech teacher has commented on the improvement of two of the students that had been using it, and she was unaware of what we are doing.
My second use of the device was to create higher-quality recordings to have an audio companion to resources used in the classroom. For my students with significant reading disabilities, this has been game-changing in their understanding of content.
A few of the many other uses this device has been used for is for recording audio for student presentations, recording phrases, stories, and songs to help memorize content, and I use it to record audio for instructional videos. I want to express my gratitude for your help in providing a small device with such a big impact.”

Drawing on Students Abilities
Funded Nov 30, 2022The donation of the Kindle Scribe has had a big impact on instruction in my classroom. The primary impact has been creating more engaging content for students and getting great results with improving fine motor skills. A secondary benefit is that I have significantly improved efficiency in monitoring student progress without managing huge amounts of paper. This has allowed me a little more time to create better and more engaging lessons for students.
I didn't realize that the device allowed the download of audiobooks. This feature has been a big benefit to my struggling readers. They are able to listen to texts a little beyond their reading level while following along with the highlighted text. They are exposed to much more vocabulary and information that used to be out of reach for them.”

Funded Jun 14, 2022This was a simple project with a simple purpose, and we met and exceeded our goals. The initial intention for the apple TV was to keep learning content available for students that was no longer available or working on our dated TV. For this task, it has performed brilliantly. We have discovered, however, that the device is capable of much more. We can download some fun learning games that teach and motivate at the same time. Other benefits include showcasing student work, presentations, and projects through screen-sharing capabilities.
Your generosity has not only met a critical need but has blossomed into so many other creative uses. Thank you so much for sharing to make this project happen.”

Funded Jan 23, 2022Thank you for your support of this project. I knew that we would find great value in having a 3D printer but the value has even exceeded my expectations. We use the printer in a variety of ways, from creating educational materials to incentives for the students. It's amazing what we can create, and it is even more amazing how much motivation some of these prints provide. Students are working harder and we are seeing great progress as a result.
Our school is planning to do a schoolwide STEM program next school year and it will open up the use and design aspects of the 3d printer to many more students in the school. I look forward to the many ways that the printer can be used.
Thank you for your support.”

Scanning Better Horizons
Funded Sep 25, 2021Thank you so much for helping me with the purchase of this scanner. I recognize that a scanner may not be perceived as the student-focused projects that are typical in Donors Choose, however in reality it provides great benefits to my students. The students use the scanner to save their work, art, and other artifacts of learning to their personal folder which makes it easier to share and celebrate successes with their parents. The other benefits are related to my time as a teacher. Prior to having the scanner I had to walk down to the teacher's work room to scan documents to a USB drive then walk back to the classroom to upload the files. Another benefit is that I have been able to start digitizing and indexing my teaching books and resources which makes it much easier to find the best activity to help the individual needs of a student. Saving just a little time in paperwork or searching for resources allows me more time to create amazing educational activities for my students.”

I Wider View
Funded May 4, 2021When students have attention issues or short-term memory issues the challenge of switching from a reference source on their screen to the screen where they type the report can become a daunting and nearly impossible task. When you plug in a larger screen and can display that information side-by-side it can change everything. Suddenly you can focus on the information while completing the task and that information is not lost in the transition.
I appreciate your willingness to support this project and open up so many money opportunities for our students that may struggle.”

Funded May 5, 2020Thank you so much for your support of this project. The iPad you provided is used daily to help my students with hand-writing, learning letters, reading, math, and so many more ways. The iPad is a very helpful tool in education.
As a special education teacher, I serve a diverse population of learners. The versatility of the iPad is very helpful in addressing the individual needs of these students. The addition of the Apple Pencil has made a big difference in many of the fine-motor related tasks. It has also been helpful with drawing related activities that are a big motivator for a few of my students.
Your help in this project is so valuable in making the lives of my students a little easier. Special Needs students have needs that you helped me meet.”

Funded Dec 11, 2019Thank you for providing for some of the classroom essentials. Although folders, binders, and pens may seem to be pretty mundane, to me they are a breath of fresh air. When purchasing items with our limited funds, we either have to go cheap or go without. Sure I can get cheap binders for a couple of bucks but they rarely last and are difficult to use. Having a heavy-duty binder with the easy-open rings are a joy to use. They are especially useful for students who struggle with fine motor control.
Your generosity has made out work just a little nicer and more enjoyable.”
