Get These Students Off the iPads and into Writing!
Funded Nov 12, 2024Thank you so much for our fabulous supplies! The kids are so excited to use them.
The theraputty is used daily to strengthen their fingers and wrists to help them prepare for Kindergarten. They use it along side of playdough and slime for a sensory twist.
The triangular crayons allow the children to practice using the pincer grip. It will get the muscles they need to write longer sentences and color within the lines. I appreciate the triangular crayons as they aren't constantly rolling onto the floor!
We will use the kinesthetic sand to help our sensory needs as well as molding items in the sand area. It is not as messy and regular sand can hinder children with asthma from playing. Now these children will also get the opportunity to play!
Thank you for you kind heart, caring for others and your donation. It is so appreciated.”

Catching My Rainbow through the Summer!
Funded Sep 1, 2021What a wonderful gift! Although we are back in school full time, your gift has impacted us greatly!
Children love new, personal art supplies. They have taken these home in order to make books with their families. Children will use these to spend special time with their families and allow them to reflect on their feelings.
We have suggested to parents to allow them to use them as a journal for the children, or writing their own stories with a strong connection to families. Many of our diverse families are not included in books that the children like to read.
Therefore, we can make our students and families the main characters of their own books to treasure and cherish for years to come. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Funded Jan 6, 2021What a wonderful gift for such a crazy year! Our school is opening and closing too frequently for our liking. But because of your generous donations, life has become a little easier.
Your donations come as everyone needs individual hands on materials. Due to Covid restrictions, children need their own materials. We have given children all the materials in bags that goes back and forth to their homes. This way, the school disruptions are a little bit easier. Many of our students are a little less behind due to your thoughtful gifts.
We have kinesthetic sand, slime, and tactile paint. We also added make your own books so they can commemorate their year in Pre-K. Although many parents are not fans of these materials, they are favorites of our kids! There is a lot of science and fine motor skills happening here!
Next steps, will be to get these children back in school! They need consistency, vocabulary development and phonemic awareness. They need emergence into the English language.
It is donors like you that will help guide these students to be doctors, lawyers, plumbers and community helpers!
Thank you for your thoughtfulness!”

Funded Dec 8, 2020Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful donations! We received our books -over 100 of them! The kids took their time to pick their choices to bring home. For most of them, these will be the only books in their home! These books will help increase their English language. Many of our students are new to our country and the English language. This will allow the parents to spend quality time with their youngsters as they enjoy the quiet time of reading. As we have been opening and closing our school frequently, these books will give the opportunities that would have most likely not been available. It is through the generosity of you that this will be possible!”

Funded Oct 12, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations. Students are having a blast hammering nails into the boards to develop their fine motor development. This will help them write their names properly, as well as zip and button their coats. The bean bag toss helps with their gross motor arm and leg movements. It develops hand eye coordination. It also helps with their math skills of sorting and identifying colors, numbers and shapes! These movements help them walk up our 3 flights of stairs. Our children have already fell in love with our hopscotch rug. Practicing their hopping skills develops balance. Let's not forget that the kids have no idea how much work they are doing, they just remember all the fun, fun, fun!! Our students will be forever grateful!”

Funded May 3, 2017Many of our library books are old and used. We opened boxes and found so many books on our yearly themes! This month's theme is Babies. We are studying human and animal babies; how they grow, what they do. They children are fascinated by how they are so similar to animal babies! Children love to learn about real things. Non-fiction text with photographs of some of the animals they have heard of but knew nothing about is so exciting. Reading has become such a fun time now. Kids share details they have learned. What they learn in small groups has moved on to other parts of their day as well! Whether we are in "the zoo" during center time, acting out in dramatic play or even during recess. The children use their new knowledge to make their day more fun.
Children read throughout the day with the teacher , with a partner, or or by themselves during independent reading time. Many people assume that in Pre-K children don't read. They couldn't be more wrong! Our children read using pictures to create or retell a similar story. It is their favorite time of day! We can't thank you enough for your generosity and kindness.”

Funded May 15, 2017Boy, oh boy! When the boxes arrived I don't know who was more excited, the teacher or the students! As the year is coming to a close, all of the toys are old and not as exciting as September. But 7 boxes of new toys! Of course the children don't recognize the educational value behind the "toys". They don't realize they are using math and science. They don't realize they are increasing their fine and gross motor skills. They are getting their muscles ready for writing. They are working on hand- eye coordination, problem-solving skills, team work, all while having a fabulous time. As schools are continually losing funding, schools are required to purchase the bare minimum. Teachers spend their own money to enhance the learning of students in interesting and fun ways. It is for these reasons, we are so grateful for kindness and generosity of friends and strangers. These materials will help this year's children and children for years to come. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
