  • Let's Rock and Roll!

    Funded Sep 11, 2024

Thank you for supporting our project of putting our large xylophones on wheeled carts. It has completely changed how much I can use the instruments in the music classroom. Every time I can easily roll the instruments in and out of the classroom space to use them, I silently (and sometimes verbally) thank Donors Choose for providing these. Students can even help move the instruments now, so they are taking ownership of the classroom space, as well.

At our school, the students have music class once a week for 45 minutes, so it's wonderful to make the most of that limited time. Now, I am able to plan a lesson that includes our instruments and also movement or Promethean activities, since we can easily move the bass xylophones out of the way to do other things.

It is humbling and heartening to see our families, kind strangers, and corporations support music education in the public schools. I have taught music classes my entire adult life and I have no doubts that the impact on the students is vast, and is shown in direct and indirect ways. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Devaney

  • Music: Reading, Writing, and Playing

    Funded Jan 1, 2025

Thank you for supporting our students in their music program. I teach ten grade levels, pre-K through 8th grade, and it's very helpful to have exciting materials for the kids to use in creating and performing music. We have great students, who take good care of the materials and are grateful for your donations.”

  • Digital Piano for Music Class and Stage

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Our music classroom has a wonderful digital piano, thanks to donors from this site. We have used this piano in accompanying our grade level concerts, where Mrs. Devaney was able to change key and tempo in the piano to suit our young singers. The technology is amazing, and accompaniment tracks can be saved on usb drives and easily transferred to a laptop. The tracks themselves can include harmonic accompaniment, compelling rhythms, and melodic support. It has set our singers up for success in the classroom, and in their public performances!

The digital piano has also been used in the talent show. It is much easier to transport than the traditional piano, and can be carried by an older student or adult down the stairs and into the cafeteria. The full size keyboard and weighted keys make it feel like a 'real' piano, and students were able to play it and show their talents to our school community.

This piano has also been used in the music classroom, along with our few additional keyboards, when students learn the basics of playing piano. It has been an invaluable resource for us and we will use it for years to come. Thank you!”

  • Lights, Stage, Action!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for contributing to our performers’ success. My middle school choir and drama students work hard to produce quality concerts, musicals, and plays, and now they will be seen and heard more clearly. Our elementary students will also benefit in their grade level performances throughout the school year. Thank you.”

  • Let's Put on a Show!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you for supporting our young performers. All students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade will benefit from these stage platforms. My middle school students work hard to produce quality caincerts, plays, and musicals, and we will now have more flexibility in how we can present out productions to the audience.”

  • The Show Must Go On (with updated technology)

    Funded Mar 14, 2022

Thank you for supporting our choir and drama program through your donation. The students will benefit from the updated technology, and be able to perform to the best of their ability. We appreciate your help in finding the performing arts at the middle school level, where students can gain confidence.”

  • We Want to Sing Together!

    Funded Sep 24, 2020

Thank you for your support! I hope to keep our students safely singing the rest of the school year. We’ve all missed creating music together these past months. This is the first project I’ve ever submitted, in 26 years of teaching, so thanks again for donating. The students and I really appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Devaney

We have been restricted to 'online only' learning during our first quarter of school, and we plan to return to live learning in October. The choirs have been singing alone and uploading solo acapella videos to create our first virtual choir videos. We can't wait to sing together again, but we want to make sure it is as safe as possible. These disposable masks and 'singable' brackets will make it safer and more comfortable for our choir and drama students to rehearse. Each student will have their own reusable bracket, which they can use in their own cloth masks, or in these disposable masks just for choir class. Middle school choir members are just learning how to perform harmonies, and it's important for them to sing together in real time. As the teacher, I need to hear the choir to analyze and respond to each singer's challenges. As students, they need to learn to listen, analyze, and respond in their own performance.
