Who was your favorite teacher? I would have to say my Kindergarten teacher was my favorite teacher! I want my students to look back on their education and say "Mrs. Ramirez was one of the best teachers I ever had." Kindergarten is a new experience for many of my students. I teach in a poor rural area. Many of them have not been out of the town where they are living. They are being raised by a single parent or grandparent. They have grown up without being read to. Videos and games have taken my students away from books. They aren't familiar with the nursery rhymes that so many of us grew up singing. They don't know the fairy tales like Cinderella. I want to change their motivation from what video game they are going to play to what book they are going to read. They are full of energy and love. I want that love and energy to go into their reading. I will be there to help them every step of the way.
