My students come from many different backgrounds. Most of my students are seniors, who have chosen a vocational track in high school. They have struggled with English and literature in the past and have, therefore, missed out on what books have to offer. These are students, who have a ton of opinions about the world, but no real medium to relate to. As a pilot course last year, the films shown in class helped to stimulate some of the best discussion I've had since becoming a teacher.
