  • Technology Benefits Readers Too

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my project! Because of your generosity my students will have access to learning tools to support their literacy and language development in an engaging and age appropriate way. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your kindness in helping me reach all learners in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Conroy

  • Ambiance Sets the Stage for Learning

    Funded Dec 4, 2023

Thank you so much for funding my project! I have worked hard this year to create a classroom that meets the sensory needs of all learners and feels welcoming and safe to students. These materials will support my goal of creating a multisensory learning environment that makes reading and writing accessible to all students, particularly those struggling with literacy and language.”

  • Visuals Inspire Readers Too!

    Funded Jan 28, 2023

Thank you so much for helping to find my classroom library. My students are excited to come in to class to select their books and read everyday. They haven't had access to so many different graphic novels in the past, and have discovered that a story can hold their interest for an extended period of time. For many of them, it has changed their attitude on reading.

Because my class runs on 9-week cycle, one of the greatest things about this gift is that it influences so many different groups of students. I have the opportunity to see all three grades of kids in my classroom and each grade level is equally excited about the choices of books on the shelves. They constantly surprise me with their choices and with what they choose to share with each other.

As the year ends, I am excited to pack these books away knowing that I will be able to take them out again next year to share with a new group of students in the fall!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Conroy

  • Books Shouldn't Live on Shelves

    Funded Sep 6, 2022

Thank you so much for helping fund my project. These resources have been invaluable as I have set up my classroom and curriculum this year. We have used the Scholastic Scope magazines on almost a daily basis to reinforce important reading skills. These magazines are engaging for students and they look forward to their arrival every month. They also come with interactive features that support their understanding and allow students to access content beyond the school day.

The novels that came in have enhanced my classroom library in several different ways. They have increased the diversity of texts represented in my classroom and also the authors represented. Students are engaged by the characters they see on the covers and in the pages of these books and have found new and, in some cases, first favorites among these titles.

Thank you so much for making this project possible!”

  • Book Nook

    Funded Jan 19, 2014

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom! It has been so helpful to have the reader's theater plays in my small group interventions. My kids struggle with basic fluency and comprehension, which makes reading a chore for them at times. By reading plays on familiar stories, they feel like they are acting out a story, and not struggling to read simple text. They really enjoy changing the tone in which they read to make each other laugh, and are building their confidence as expressive readers.

We have also been using the subscriptions to Scholastic Scope and Action weekly in class. I wasn't aware that the subscriptions come with online resources, but they do, and the resources are wonderful! My kids particularly like the paired texts and videos, which gives them multiple perspectives of the same topic and allows them to think through new subjects thoroughly. There are also leveled texts that really help me with differentiation.

These resources are great, and have been so helpful to me in class. The kids are really invested and are very grateful that there are people who support them in their efforts to and through college!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Conroy

  • Quiet Feet, Loud and Proud Voices!

    Funded Aug 28, 2013

Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom! The chair slippers have made it so much easier for my students to complete group work. They have also made it much quieter when they are changing seats, which has not only helped us, but has made it more peaceful for the other students in surrounding classrooms.

An additional benefit of the chair slippers is that they protect our shiny new floors from scratches and marks, which is appreciated by all in the building.

Thank you so much for making my classroom more aesthetically pleasing and more functional!”

  • Hot Books: The Latest and Greatest Burning Up the Shelf

    Funded Sep 8, 2013

Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom! My kids love their new books, and they have provided such an incentive for them to read and be excited for independent reading time. Now, they can hardly wait to finish a book to start a new one. Also, because of your donation, I was able to buy many serialized books, so my kids are able to move through multiple high interest texts.

I wish that you had been able to see the looks on their faces when I opened the boxes of books with them. Many have never been the first person to read a brand new book, and this small novelty goes a long way in increasing their motivation.

With your help, they are becoming stronger, more confident readers.

    Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Conroy

My kids are hysterical. They love performing, whether it's acting out scenes from Shakespeare (by the end of sixth grade, my struggling readers read Twelfth Night!), freestyling about their favorite fast food, or singing at talent shows, they make their personalities known. School is still a struggle, however, and distractions, however small they may seem, can cause them to become distracted and off-task.
