  • Develop. Share. Repeat.

    Funded Mar 12, 2015

Thank you for your donation that helped purchase a computer and other needed supplies to help me in my job as a teacher leader. I help to provide professional development to other teachers. Many times, I do not know what type of technology will be provided; sometimes no technology is available.

Your gift allowed me to conduct meaningful professional development for teachers. These teachers are able to use what they have learned to help students in their classrooms. I use these supplies daily, I don't know what I would do without them. They truly have become an integral part of my presentations.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lazarowicz

  • Can I Go Recycle This?

    Funded Apr 13, 2010

I want to thank you for your generous donation to our recycling project. As soon as our supplies were delivered, our recycling team went into action. Your donation has allowed us to expand our recycling program to include plastics and toner cartridges as well as a larger amount of paper products.

Our students do not have a curbside recycling program at home--the only recycling they do at home is pop cans and bottles. Your donation has allowed our students to take more of an active role in the whole recycling process.

Thank you again for helping our students learn how to take care of our Earth. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lazarowicz

  • Lots Of Educational DVDs, NO DVD Player...

    Funded Oct 30, 2009

I want to that you for the donation you made for my project . I teach science to third, fourth and fifth graders in a large urban district. My students come from primarily low income households and the primary language spoken at home is Spanish.

When my students reach fifth grade, they go onto middle school and sometimes never meet again due to attending different schools and a high rate of transiency. Your donation makes it possible to record moments like you see in the pictures. We had just finished a five week long unit on forces and motion, and engineers from a local car company came to work in the classroom to assist with the unit. On our last day, they brought in some of the cars that they helped develop. Your donation allowed me to take those memories and put them on discs for students, sort of like a video yearbook. Students helped me use the technology you purchased to put the pictures on the disc, which gives them access to technology they would not have otherwise had.

Thank you for giving them the opportunity to use technology while creating a keepsake that will help them document their formative years.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lazarowicz

  • Let NO Child Be Left Inside

    Funded Oct 5, 2009

I would like to thank you for donating to our "No Child Left Inside" project. As you know, my students are unable to have much unstructured outside time. I teach in a large urban area where gang violence is prevalent--parents can't send their kids out to explore. The supplies you provided have allowed my students to learn about science concepts in an informal, safe setting.

Your donations have allowed us to construct our own tool bags. Students drew various scenes of our outdoor classroom in crayon onto sandpaper. I took their art and ironed it onto the fabric you purchased. I sewed the fabric into the bags that you will see the students holding. These bags are used to hold art supplies, magnifiers, thermometers and other tools that you helped to purchase.

Our club meets once a week on our lunchtime to do outdoor activities that we are unable to do during class time. For example, we collected snow and conducted an experiment to see which is more, a cup of snow or a cup of water. We used the UV beads to make bracelets and got into a great conversation about the effects of the sun's rays.

As spring inches closer, please know that the tools you have supplied are being used and appreciated. Thank you for helping me in my quest to leave no child inside!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lazarowicz

  • Take a Tool and Go!

    Funded Nov 30, 2007

I would just like to say thank you so much for helping to fund this worthwhile project. Urban students just do not get the opportunity to explore their environment in a safe place full of neat plants and animals with the correct tools and you have just helped to supply this. Understanding that the economy is not good at this time, I truly appreciate your willingness to support children learning in the outdoors. I promise you that the supplies you have helped to purchase will be in my student's hands and they will be outside using them.

    Very Truly Yours,

    Mrs. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lazarowicz

I teach science to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at a public school in an urban area in Michigan. My students are mostly from low income families and they are primarily Spanish speaking. Some students come to school speaking no English, which can be very scary for them.
