  • Can I Draw Instead?

    Funded Dec 31, 2015

    Dear Cindy Ruskin,

Thank you for donating to our project. My students love to draw in class! Now we have an abundance of construction paper, glue, craft sticks and googly eyes, their favorite. For some of my students, writing is very difficult for them. Having an option to draw what they have learned to share with the class allows for less anxiety. The students can learn either through auditory or visual modalities and produce their work in the modality of their choice, drawing a detailed picture and labeling. I cannot wait for you to see their artwork!”

  • Better Paper Makes Better Games Part 2!

    Funded Dec 3, 2015

Thank you all for funding this project! I wish you could all see the little faces in my classroom light up every time a new box is carried in. Ending the year with the proper supplies will make such a difference. We also have enough to start the year with card stock. I have all the card stock I need at my disposal and to make my students great math and literacy games that are easy to grab with their little hands. • Are Those My words On The Chart Paper?

    Funded Aug 27, 2015

Thank you all for your generous donations. Each project that is funded for my classroom allows for more creativity and differentiation for my students. My students love when I use their words in one of our lessons. It allows them to see how their responses are transformed into the written word. Their response is always. "I said that? Wow!" When I read their words back to them, their eyes are filled with amazement.

Now with an abundance of chart paper, every child's response can be turned into the written word. Thank you again!”

  • Needed: "LIFE ESSENTIALS" To Get Through the Winter

    Funded Nov 23, 2015

Thank you for funding this "essential" project! As you can see from the student's faces, they are extremely happy to have new Winter essentials (hats, scarves and gloves). When they asked what the socks were for and I explained that if their feet were cold or wet after coming in from the snow, I would provide them warm socks, they all cheered. My class is extremely appreciative of all that is done for them. They are excited to have juice and snacks available when they are hungry and need to nibble on something to get through the day.

Thank you again for funding our Life Essentials project. I love to see my students smile.”

  • Needed: Teacher's Best Friend a Laminator

    Funded Oct 18, 2015

Thank you all for your generous donations! Having a large classroom laminator allows me to create several games for the students on different levels. It also allows me to protect their fabulous writing and artwork. My students were so excited to see a new laminator in class. They love having their work laminated so I can display in the hallway and they can show their parents. I can quickly print and create games and keep them for longer periods of time, giving more time to spend with my students on their individual work. Once again thank you, your donations are extremely appreciated!”

  • This Marker Doesn't Work!

    Funded Aug 22, 2015

Thank you so much for all your generous donations! The classroom supplies will have a great impact on my students this year. Dry erase markers are essential in an early childhood classroom and I did not have much. Dry erase markers tend to disappear and dry out and we now have enough to last until the end of the year and help start next year off as well. My students use and will continue to use the materials daily. My students were overjoyed when they saw all of the materials. Your gift is extremely appreciated and has been put to great use. Thank you!!!”

I teach 12 wonderful and motivated special needs students in a Title 1 school located on the Lower East Side. I teach students in grades K, 1, and 2. They try hard to meet their personal goals as well as strive to meet the Common Core Learning Standards. Now that the third graders are faced with a standardized test next Spring, we will need more books and tools to meet their needs, With the proper tools not always available due to budget cuts, they will be able to meet and exceed their personal goals and grow into great readers, writers and mathematicians. Positive reinforcement helps my students flourish and want to continue to learn. All the skills they learn while in Early Childhood grades will support their growth as learners as they progress in school and through higher education.
