  • Flexible Space for Optimal Learning

    Funded Aug 19, 2017

Thank you so much for your support for our classroom. My kids are going to love these new things to help make our learning environment the best it can be! It means so much to have the support of our community and friends to help us learn and be the best students we can be!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Heinrich Buckner

  • Movement Matters

    Funded Apr 30, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you so much for helping my students have a fantastic learning environment. Thanks to your generous donations, my students have so much choice in where they sit in the classroom. The students who struggle with staying still and sitting in their seats, no longer struggle with this. They are able to get their wiggles out using the wobble stools while doing their work. Students who like to sit on the floor to do their work now have comfortable cushions to sit on.

School had been going on for about 2 weeks when we got our new seating. It was a Thursday afternoon when we got it all set up. The next day the kids were so excited to see all the new choices in our classroom. It has helped make our classroom more inviting and feel more like home. My students truly consider our classroom a home away from their home. This means a lot especially for our students who come from a homeless background and don't have a place to truly call home. Thanks again for helping make this possible for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Heinrich Buckner

  • Creating Digital Learners

    Funded Jul 23, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thanks so much for contributing to my project of getting an iPad in the classroom. While my students have access to technology at home, they don't always use it in the same ways as in the classroom. By having this iPad in the classroom, we are able to teach students how to use technology responsibly and to become a good digital citizen. Students use the iPad to create projects and respond to books they are reading. It goes beyond playing an game based app. My students are becoming better writers and readers with this iPad. It has been especially beneficial for my ELL population. They are able to practice their English in an engaging way. Thanks again for helping make this possible for my students.”

  • Creating Whiz Kids

    Funded Dec 3, 2013

Thank you so much for helping us get an iPad to use in the classroom. We have enjoyed every minute of using it since we received the materials in January. The kids have loved using it. They were so excited to get their turn on the iPad and beg to use it whenever we have any free time in the classroom. We have used the iPad for a variety of activities. We've used it to practice different math and language skills using apps purchased. We have also used it to listen to favorite books like the Cat in the Hat and Bernstein Bear books. One of the neatest ways we've been using the iPad is to practice words that students need practice on. I can tailor the activity to meet the student's needs. They can practice making their individualized list of words using a magnetic letter app or using the words in sentences and recording themselves using another app.

I have been able to use the iPad in the afternoons when I do some after school tutoring with the students. This has helped tremendously with keeping their attention after a long day at school. They are able to play educational games on the iPad and then we can practice sight words and math skills using different apps. I think being able to practice some basic kindergarten skills in a new way has helped keep the students engaged and focused.

Thank you for helping to make this possible for our classroom. The students have enjoyed the iPad and it has boosted their learning immensely.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Heinrich Buckner

  • Super Readers

    Funded Aug 28, 2012

Thanks you so much for donating to my Super Readers project on Donors Choose. I was able to buy over 50 non fiction books for my classroom library. The kids have enjoyed reading these books during their read to self time and during their read to someone time. The pictures I posted show my students reading the books during read to someone time. These books are high interest and the right reading ability for the students to read. They love reading non fiction and this is a part of the new standards we are expected to meet. Thanks for helping make this a reality for my students. Your generosity means so much to me as a teacher and to my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Heinrich Buckner

I'm lucky enough to have my students in Kindergarten and then again in first. They are so excited about learning new things. In Kindergarten, they caught the bug for reading. In first grade, I hope to expand that love of reading by introducing them to some new books.
