Supplies for Spring STEM Fun
Funded Feb 22, 2024Thank you for helping our classroom keep up with supplies for spring STEM! The students have been working with pipe cleaners and pony beads, making all sorts of creations and jewelry. The bandaids are a hit, and they have helped us avoid many trips to the office for simple paper cuts or microscopic boo-boos. We haven't used the sunlight paper, but when we do it will be amazing! Who doesn't like collecting nature objects and doing a craft with them? I am so thankful for every person who has helped make this year a great one in STEM Lab. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Funded Feb 14, 2024Thank you for helping us celebrate the Lunar New Year! It wasn't exactly at the right time, but my students didn't care. They loved the drums, dragons, lanterns, coins, and fans...especially the fans! The parade ended up being around the room, and I can tell you it was a highlight of our class. Photos from my classroom aren't allowed to include student faces anymore, but the smiles were super huge and didn't leave even as they walked out the door. I wish I could bottle up the excitement and giggles the students had and release it into the room during boring staff meetings. Thank you for providing this exciting learning adventure for my students.”

Funded Nov 2, 2023Thank you for supporting this project. Several years ago I was able to attend the North American Monarch Institute in Minneapolis. I learned all about the plight of the monarch butterfly and how the migration numbers were drastically declining. I started growing milkweed in my own yard, taught friends about how to keep a pollinator garden, and even collected and hand-raised monarch caterpillars until the studies showed it didn't help as much as the scientists had first thought.
This project gave me a chance to have my students learn more about pollinator gardens and start some around their own neighborhoods. They made seed bombs and were able to toss the pods into areas where overgrown or abandoned vegetation grew to help bring more native plants and flowers into the area. It was a fun project where they learned as well as helped their community. Thank you again for your generosity. Without you projects like this would be difficult to do.”

Funded Feb 13, 2024You are amazing! Thank you for supporting this project. The eggs arrived last Wednesday, and they started hatching by Thursday morning. We have over 200 very hungry caterpillars that my students absolutely love! Almost every classroom in the building has a popup butterfly house and a set of 5 or 6 caterpillars to watch as they go through their life cycle.
Now here comes the best part! So many of the eggs hatched that I was able to share the caterpillars with friends from other schools and even other districts. Last night I met with some of my "Nerd Herd" to catch up on life and pass out bugs. The eggs and caterpillar food you helped provide are being raised in multiple classrooms of five different school buildings!
I truly appreciate being able to help so many students experience learning about the world around them in a way that they will remember forever. Thank you so much for helping to make it happen.”

Snack Pantry for Hungry Tummies
Funded Nov 4, 2023Thank you for providing the snacks and totes to create a pantry for my students. Our school starts at 7:30 and finishes at 2:40. Some students eat at 10:15 and others start at 11:55. That leaves about 4 hours between meals for most of our school, and that's a long time for hungry tummies! Having snacks in my classroom has helped curb behavior problems, made smiles on faces, and kept students from being more focused on their stomachs than the lessons. While it may not seem like a lot, a granola bar or pack of pretzels or fruit snacks can make a huge different in the way a student's day goes. Thank you so much for helping me keep snacks on hand for the students in my classes.”

Funded Nov 2, 2023Thank you so very much for providing these materials for my classroom! It's the little things like this that help make STEM Lab more fun and better for learning. The cups have been used a hundred times already to create towers, work on balance and cooperation, and practice engineering and design. We will be using the 3D pens soon, and the shrinking paper. Throughout the year these things would normally come out of my own pocket, but this way I can know that I have what we need for an awesome year. Thank you again for your generosity and support.”

Funded Nov 26, 2023Thank you for everything! Cozy Kindergarteners helped give my students an amazing send-off for the winter break. Instead of the 30 that were originally planned for, almost 90 smiling faces happened. I gave the hats, gloves, blankets, and socks in backpack to the original students, and we were able to split, the extra socks, stuffed animal keychains, and more to provide small presents for the other two classes. Comments such as "Thank you! This is the best day ever!!" "My mom is going to be so excited about my new hat!" and "I love you so much!" were so abundant it almost brough me to tears. We take so many things for granted that its humbling to be able to give a gift like this to children and know how grateful they are.”

STEM-ming in the New Schol Year
Funded Sep 19, 2023Thank you for helping make my classroom just a little bit more awesome! The adaptive materials you provided have helped my students spend more time doing STEM than trying to cut, tape, and write. It seems like such a little thing for a student to be able to use a tape dispenser for masking tape instead of just the roll, but it can cut back up to 75% of the time needed to pull, tear, and tape. That's 75% more time to explore, investigate, and design! The scissors and tape dispensers have been invaluable as well as the pencil holders. Little hands have been able to work longer and do more without hurting from trying so hard to work their fine motor skills. I truly appreciate your generosity and support, and my little engineers and scientists are blossoming from the supplies that are just a little bit different than normal. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.”

Funded Nov 28, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity and support! We opened up the boxes for the hydroponics systems today, and I had two different classes help me put them together. The 4th graders did everything on their own with a bit of guidance, and the first graders were beyond excited to help with finding the pieces and then putting the foam inserts in. Once the two classes had them set up, a kindergarten class helped "plant" the seeds. They were calling them "plant babies" and being super gentle. I cannot tell you how thrilled everyone is to have been a part of this project so far. Fingers crossed everything germinates and grows well. This is going to make an impact in so many ways. Thank you again for helping bring it to life.”

Funded Oct 7, 2023Thank you!! You have helped my students create, cooperate, and persevere while having fun. The magnetic tiles are a hit when the class is allowed to choose stations, and they are absolutely a great addition to our STEM Lab. I have had so much fun watching different age and ability levels design and create! Each sculpture is unique, and the pride in their eyes after they were able to make the newest one bugger and better than the last is incredible. Thank you again for your generosity and support. My students and I thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.”
