These guided reading books will make all the difference to my struggling readers with unique learning needs. These students require skilled and targeted instruction and ample materials on their level. The books I am requesting have repeated text on each level with simple sentences made mostly of high frequency words. Each page provides a high level of picture support. My district provides reading materials to each teacher for a typical learner, but not enough materials for students who struggle. Struggling readers need to advance their text level is smaller increments by reading multiple books on their level every single day. These guided reading books will be shared among the other first grade teachers in a library kept in a shared closet and will benefit students for many years to come.
