• Marvelous Magazines for Learning!

  I truly appreciate your generosity. Making this donation to purchase Scholastic Storyworks Jr. for my reading classes has greatly impacted my class. Many students in our area are from lower income families. I noticed as I taught genres of literature that many did not know what a magazine was nor had they seen or used one. This had to be remedied.

  Now students receive a monthly magazine of their own. These wonderful magazines are filled with many types of genres, such as fiction, nonfiction, dramas, and paired texts. They also teach grammar and writing skills with each issue. Our subscription also allows the teacher to use many online resources to engage students in learning, for example, video vocabulary.

  Thanks to the efforts of great businesses like Peebles, my students can now enjoy fascinating stories that ignite a sense of wonder, inspiring them to learn and explore. The first step in learning is sparking curiosity. Thank you for this opportunity!”

• Bouncing and Behaving!

  My students love our new Bouncy Bands. From the moment they arrived in the big box, to when I managed to install them on their desk legs (which was no easy task), the students were giddy with excitement. I explained to the students the purpose of the bands and the ways they could and could not use them. Of course some students used them inappropriately, but after a while the students began to use them for their real purpose: stress relief.

  Fortunately we received our Bouncy Bands about a month before our state testing occurred. They loved being able to stretch out, rest their feet and just wiggle and move while taking practice tests in the room or doing review. I could tell a big difference in the behavior of some of the ADD/ADHD students in the class. They were able to pay attention and stay on task better than before.

• Sharpen Our Class

  Funded Mar 8, 2011

  Thank you for the pencil sharpeners and pencils that you so graciously donated to our classroom. The students were thrilled to use them and not have to use the old hand-crank sharpener. They can now sharpen their pencils more quickly and get back to their work without disrupting the entire class.

  Due to the economy, all school systems have had tremendous budget cuts. As a teacher, it means so much that someone would be willing to donate to a classroom. Even something as small as a pencil sharpener makes a difference. I thank you for reaching out to make a difference in the lives of others.
