We are a Title I school in rural North Carolina. 99.4 % of our students receive free or reduced lunch on a daily basis. 74% of these students are learning English as their second language. These students do not have the background knowledge that is necessary to fully understand and apply academic vocabulary and concepts. I want to help them make connections to text, through technology, experiments and pictures. This limited background knowledge is due to lack of outside of school experiences. Many of them do not have televisions, take vacations or even have a chance to leave this town. I want to bring the world to their fingertips in my classroom.

About my class
