Keeping a child's attention can be a difficult task for any teacher. Doing so for a child with autism, ADHD, leaning disabilities, and intellectual disabilities can be an even bigger challenge. Decreased muscle tone and the constant need for movement based sensory input make it difficult for these children to learn "Sit still," is no longer an appropriate phrase to use in the classroom. By providing my students with Wobble chairs they will not only be able to wiggle while they work, they could also improve muscle tone and posture, receive much needed sensory input, and burn excess energy. All of which will improve their ability to activly engage in learning.
