Keycode needs an Upgrade
Funded Oct 11, 2024Thanks to your generosity, my students now have brand new headphones so as they work on our Keycode curriculum it will come with much less distractions. Many of our lessons have tutorials and 25 different voices going off at various times in a class can be a bit much. Also it nice to have something new rather than continuing to use materials that are 5-10 years old. Also with the addition of a class printer, I can make more immediate modifications for my students with learning disabilities as well as my English as a second language learners.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Moore
Life Under A Microscope: Live And In Your Face
Funded Jul 4, 2012The amazing and generous donation of the Ken-A-Vision Digital Microscope eyepiece has been put to use in our study of soil types as it relates to our Earth Science frameworks. With the ability to project what was on my microscope to the whole class I was able to show clear distinctions between a variety of soils and the components found in each. We even got lucky and found a worm in our sample so it turned into a full-blown biology lesson as well with the circulatory and digestive system in plain sight for us all to see.
Future uses of this educational tools will be to show the invisible lives of bacteria and other single-celled organisms as well as the ecosystem found in our local ponds. I will also share this technology with my co-workers in other grades as they explore the wonders of our bodies and the minute details found in elements and compounds.
Having this technology enables the teacher to guide students in what can be the difficult use of microscopes which may lead to an inspiration for students to pursue a field that uses them daily in medical, criminal justice and chemistry fields as well as others. The student understanding of what they are seeing and should see is vital to being able to connect their learning with the world around them.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Moore
