  • Marin Headlands Overnight Experience

    Funded Apr 22, 2005

    Thank you so much for funding the bus so we can transport our students to the Marin Headlands Hostel. I wish you could hear the excitement and anticipation in the classroom. This experience will be so memorable for the children. Not only are they going to get amazing hands on , and experiential learning experiences to further their knowledge of the amazing headlands landscape, they are going to have a chance to bond further with their classmates and grow in spirit. I am so grateful to you as are the students”

    I was so astonished to read that out grant for poetry was funded! It made my day and I was the fortunate one to relay the news to parents. My 20 students are from varied backgrounds. Ten of them are English language learners, Chinese being their primary language. Thirteen qualify for free and reduced lunch. They all work very hard and value learning. My classroom is a microcosm of the school. Many teachers are involved in the Reading and Writing Workshop model which is so in sync with the Common Core Curriculum. Our school community values the arts and we are fortunate to have visual and performing art consultants. Some of us work with the San Francisco Opera and will write, produce, and perform our own productions.

About my class
