Along with New Mexico Game and Fish, we will learn about the native fish of our state. Instruction includes the environment in which they live, their life span, and reproduction. Students will research various NM fish species and their environments. We will also locate specific ecosystems on a map of the state. Students will then present their findings to the class. As an extension activity, I want students to research fish farming. They will research the prices of the various fish and if our particular fish may be eaten. How could they be farmed? What would they need as an environment? Food? How long would it take until they were harvested? Students would then design a fish farm.
