I teach 41 kindergartens in a low-income public school. Over 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunches. They are amazing students that are inquisitive and energetic. They long to be able to use the technology that they see on TV but don't have the means to do so. These children are from very diverse ethnic, social, and income backgrounds, Hispanic, African-American, Asian, Vietnamese, and Caucasian. Native language is often not English and we, as teachers, are challenged on how best to inspire these children. One common theme with my students though is their desire to learn. Teaching them or any student now, involves creative and innovative methods to capture a child's attention and ingrain the love of learning.
