  • Furniture for Fourth!

    Funded May 10, 2023

    Your generous donations has greatly improved the appearance, atmosphere, and organization of our classroom. The students love sitting in groups with each other. They were excited the first day of school to walk in the new tables and organizers.

    We use the cube organizers to hold our textbooks and interactive notebooks. The baskets were too big for the cube organizer so we use them on top of the cubes for more organization and to keep math manipulatives in. Having these in the classroom keeps the students organized are can find what they need easily for class.

  • Flexible Seating for 4th Graders

    Funded May 25, 2021

    Thank you so much for your donations to my flexible seating classroom. I want to share with you the excitement that I had to get my project fully funded, and to receive my new seating. I had so much fun setting my classroom up with the new flexible seating. All of the other teachers in my building stopped in to see my classroom. They were equally excited to see the new classroom seating. The students are much more relaxed and comfortable with the new seating. I, of course, gave students rules of the flexible seating on the first day and we haven't had any issues with them taking care of the new seats.

    One the first day of school students were extremely excited for the new flexible seating. The couldn't believe that they were allowed to sit on a yoga ball all day. The instantly loved the surf seats and use them all the time for computer work or to sit closer to the board. The round cushions are great for the students who prefer to sit in the floor at a lowered table. The stools are perfect for small group instruction at my table.

    Our next steps for our flexible seating project is to continue to use the new seating. I plan to add more choices of flexible seating. I have created another project for additional seating as well.

Flexible seating allows students to choose where they sit and learn for the day. I currently have a set of ten surf seats that the students can use to do their work. They are able to get a surf seat and sit anywhere in the room and work on their tablets or classwork. I will be implementing full flexible seating in my classroom next year. Flexible seating creates a more relaxed classroom atmosphere and I feel that students are more receptive to learning when they are comfortable. I would like to have a variety of different types of seating for the students. The seating that I have chose includes chair balls, stools, more surf seats, cushions, and foam flooring to make the students more comfortable. Having flexible seating in my classroom will help students that have issues with fidgeting and sitting still. I am hoping that having flexible seating will be a positive change in my classroom and create a more relaxed learning environment.
