  • A Safe, Fun and Rewarding Place to Learn!

    As I read over the list of materials that were provided for our classroom I felt such a surge of gratitude for those who were so giving and caring and enriched our student's experiences! Everything has been helpful, however the weighted animals and lap pad are a proven favorite, surprisingly not just for the younger students, but even some 6th grade students appear to find comfort and assurance from having them on their lap, and report to me (and I observe as well) that they feel like the weight helps them pay attention and be on task.

    I have set up a rules for use and rotation system so all students who wish so may utilize these items and the weighted materials can be available for many students and for many years to come.

  • I Can Do It! Technology Resources for Resource Kids

    I just read we have been completely funded and I'll admit it produced some happy tears of appreciation for people like you! We are all super excited to have the addition of technology to help us be successful. Every single student will benefit as learning has expanded so much into the digital format. In today's world if you are not tech-savvy you are automatically a huge step behind. My students with learning disabilities already have a disadvantage of having to struggle to master what other students learn easily in reading or math. With the addition of Chromebooks to supplement instruction and assessment, my students will have practice and gain confidence in their abilities to access technology. Chromebooks will be used by the students to access information, write responses and essays, and utilize some of the programs designed to help fill the gaps. As an added benefit, student's confidence will grow as they will be able to successfully navigate and perform their best on the required standard based testing on computers.
