Help Special Needs Students Get a Printer!

Funded Dec 7, 2015

I would like to sincerely thank you for your kindness and support. Your donations have been incredibly generous and valuable to my students.

When I first informed my students that we received a printer, they were completely shocked. Some of them did not know what a printer was used for. The first question they asked was, "why did those people donate money for us to buy a printer?" I responded to them by saying that these donors gave us money for a printer because they believe in you and they want you all to succeed and do well.

When I explained the process of how donorschoose.org works, my students felt humble and so appreciative. They made comments such as: that was really nice of them; they didn't have to do that for us; and what can we do for them. I told them that the only thing these donors want is for you to show them how we can use this printer to help make us smarter, better students that work hard and always try our best.

Some of my students have never used a laptop or tablet for schoolwork and thus, never used a printer or appreciated the finished product of their hard work. They were completely astonished and engaged in the process of typing their work on a computer and seeing it printed out on paper.

Our new class printer has helped my students see and appreciate the process of creating a piece of work that they can be proud of. Students are happy to share the printed work with their parents and our school.

Teaching in a low socioeconomic neighborhood to students with a variety of deficits has been challenging. However, with this donation, we were given an opportunity to introduce and utilize a form of technology that we may take for granted every day. Students learned how to use a program, such as Microsoft Word, to produce, edit, and print out a document that they created.

Every dollar of your donations is a dollar that you have invested in my students. It is a symbol of faith and caring that has motivated my students in ways I never imagined. Once again, thank you for giving my students a chance to succeed!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Ghadban
