Please Help Us Sleep Inside!
Funded May 19, 2018The impact this opportunity made on myself and the students who were able to go will last a lifetime. To work with students, teachers, and scientists from around the world is something I could never replace in the classroom. My students still talk about how wonderful everyone was and how fascinating it was to work alongside these children from 41 countries and work together to achieve something that would benefit the entire planet. My students have never been outside their neighborhood, let alone the country and they will never be the same. Two of them were chosen for a special video to represent the students who went to the conference. This was also something I could never produce in the classroom. They learned that some of the same issues plague other parts of the world and they collected data that can be used in science experiments back home for their next science fair. I am deeply humbled and grateful for the assistance you gave us. We never had to be concerned about where we were staying, or what we could eat, thanks to you. You made this trip possible for us and we are forever changed. Their eyes, (and mine) have been opened to the world because of this trip. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!”

Please, Can We Sleep Inside Tonight?
Funded Jun 11, 2018I cannot thank you enough for making this possible for us. After a very grueling and difficult flight, we were able to arrive and know that our hotel was taken care of, thanks to you. We had lost luggage, some of which still is missing, but we had a place to sleep, truly, and we were grateful!
This trip was the chance of a lifetime and I wish I could express just how much it meant to myself and our students to be able to attend this! To be able to field in such a wonderful area, with students from 41 other countries, was simply unbelievable! Students shared their culture, school, and research opportunities with students and scientists and were treated like professionals. Lessons were learned, friendships were made, and lives were forever changed, thanks to you. Over and over, my students kept saying how nice and courteous everyone was and they just did not know how to react to that.
You are such amazing people and I cannot thank you enough for making this possible. From the depths of my heart, my gratefulness flows to you all.”

We Need a Place to Lay Our Heads!
Funded Mar 27, 2018This was truly just about the most impactful opportunity I have ever had the privilege to be part of. The students and I will never be the same after this opportunity of a lifetime! You helped make that come true. We worked alongside students and scientists from 41 countries to field in Ireland's national park and gather data that will help keep this amazing place healthy for years to come. What an unbelievable experience! For us to be part of such a profound experience was something I could never reproduce in my classroom. These students gathered real data which was viable, important, and made a difference. You can only imagine how this will affect their lives! To be part of something like this was truly very humbling and it will affect how I teach for years to come.
The first picture is from culture night where students around the world shared something special from their culture. We were the top hit! Students ran screaming into the center area to join in with ours! What an experience!
Thank you for making this possible!”

Funded May 24, 2018There are simply not words that can express the awesomeness of this trip. It was truly an experience of a lifetime and I am so grateful to you all for making this possible. Both students and teachers were deeply impacted and this school year will be more profound having been to Ireland and gaining this experience. None of the students had ever been out of their city, let alone the country and to work with others from around the world, sharing new ideas and experiences was both exhilarating and humbling. We gained so many ideas, networked with so many different people and learned what it is like to be a scientist truly in the field.
The students kept repeating how nice everyone was and how encouraging they were to us all. There were students from 41 countries who worked alongside each other and three main areas. We shared friendships, cultures, science knowledge and gained ever so much more that that in return!
Please accept our deepest gratitude for helping us to attend this amazing conference and have a place to sleep. We are truly grateful!”

Is Water Everywhere Really the Same?
Funded Mar 27, 2018I don't have the words to communicate how amazing this opportunity was for my students and myself. this was truly a life changing experience and I can not express how grateful I am that you helped us obtain this opportunity. the students and I worked alongside scientists, teachers, and students rom 41 countries around the world, learning and doing science in a way I could never have done in my classroom!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You may never know the impact you have had on these children but I promise you, it was very profound.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018If you could see the looks on my students' faces when these boxes started arriving, you would be as thrilled as I was. The supplies are still coming and I think I saw the rest were delivered while we were on snow day break at the school.
When we began opening the boxes, they squealed with delight, especially when they saw our recorders finally arrived! They could not believe they were all going to get to play them. The first class did not want to leave for their next subject that day! The other class was waiting to come in and was yelling for them to hurry up so they could see what we got!
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! You have made it a better place for these children who have had no music whatsoever in their entire school lives.”

Funded Jan 26, 2018I wish you could see the looks on my students faces when we began receiving the boxes of music things. We are still waiting on some but I could not get the class to leave for their next class when the recorders arrived! They had waited so long that when they came, they just didn't believe me. They kept asking if they were really going to play them! You cannot imagine how exciting this is. They have no other art/music outlet other than this new class. Most do not even get gym so when I agreed to take this on, we were really happy. Thank you so very much for all that you have done for us. Your kindness and generosity will have a lasting impression these children, you can be sure.
Thank you so much!”

Funded Nov 16, 2017These children face such difficult odds and often don't know how to respond to someone who cares about basic needs. Many of our 5th graders are homeless so these personal care items mean a great deal to them. I can't tell you who it felt when many if them stopped to say thank you. They don't often get these necessities.
Thank you for helping them feel better about themselves!
One young lady in particular comes in smelling and looking really bad nearly every day. These items have really helped her. She is able to come in and wash herself in the bathroom and not be offensive to others. The kids no longer make fun of her. For that child alone, we thank you!”

Funded Mar 4, 2016Sometimes I wish there was a way for donors to be little flies on the wall or mice looking out from their hidden spot to see the reactions of these students when they have ideas and are actually able to do them because people such as you helped them to get the product they needed. There were times when I would be at school until 8:00 at night so a student can finish the testing. It is so much better to actually DO science rather than read about what others have done. Parents taking the time to thank you for helping their child and noticing that they are excited about school. These are the things that make a difference for me. This is why I do what I do and you are making it possible by providing things that I can no longer provide due to budget and payroll constraints. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making this a reality. You have helped students look to science as a way of life and a possible career choice. Who knows? Maybe one of mine will become a doctor because of your help!”

Funded Jan 5, 2016I just want to thank you for your generosity. I wish you could have seen the looks on the kids' faces when we opened the boxes that came for the gym classes. I am a science teacher who wrote the grant for our gym teacher. It helps us all because now the kids have things to use and gym period isn't a study hall holding room. Let me tell you, you really have made a difference! The kids were so excited, we made a chain of scooters with 8th graders on them, giving younger students a ride down the hall so everyone could see what we got. One of my students wants to use the basketballs as part of a science/sports science fair project! I wish you could have heard Ms. Kemp's voice on the phone when she called up to thank me for bringing these down to the gym. She kept students to help pump up basketballs. She just kept saying how much she appreciated these balls! She has been here about 10 years and has had no equipment since then Now we have basketballs! She just kept repeating that! Not sure who is the most excited-teacher or kids!”
