Hands-on Learning
Funded Jan 4, 2018Thank you so much for the funding to purchase the math game (Sequence Numbers), the Numbers 1-20 puzzles and the pencil sharpener for our classroom.
- When playing the math game the students were able to practice and learn math fact fluency in a fun way. They had a blast and didn't even realize they were doing math.
- While doing the puzzles my students were able to recognize the numerals and numbers and match them. This also helped them with some fine motor skills by putting the puzzles together.
- The pencil sharpener helped the students be able to sharpen their own pencils independently. Many of my students in my class have fine and gross motor delays and are not able to use a manual pencil sharpener.
These purchases have impacted my classroom with a fun and positive way. Our gratitude could never be put into words for your kindness in helping my students!”

SIMS - Special News
Funded Oct 21, 2016My classroom has been greatly impacted by being able to have access to the Scholastic News magazines and Inner Solar System nonfiction readers. With these magazines and books, my students are able to learn about nonfiction topics in class. My classroom is a self-contained special education classroom, therefore all of my students have mild to severe disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, Autism, Visual Impairments and emotional disturbances and they are all on different learning levels ranging from preschool to first grade, but the magazines and books are very beneficial to all of my students no matter the disability or learning ability that they have. They all love having access to the magazines and looking at information, watching the videos and playing the games on the digital issues. With the Inner Solar System nonfiction readers they are able to learn about planets, sun and the moon. The images and information is wonderful when we are discussing the Solar System individually or as a small group! Thank you so much for giving my students these wonderful learning tools that they normally would not have access to because many of my students are from low socioeconomic homes and exposure to most of the topics are very limited. These are a tools that we use weekly and it has helped motivate and engage my students in subject areas that they struggled with due to lack of prior knowledge and/or understanding.”

Funded Oct 8, 2014My classroom has been greatly impacted by being able to have access to the Scholastic News magazines and American Symbols nonfiction readers. With these magazines and books, my students are able to learn about nonfiction topics in class. My classroom is a self-contained special education classroom, therefore all of my students have mild to severe disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, Autism, Visual Impairments and emotional disturbances and they are all on different learning levels but the magazines and books are very beneficial to all of my students no matter the disability or learning ability that they have. They all love having access to the magazines and looking at information, watching the videos and play the games on the digital issues. With the American Symbols nonfiction readers they are able to learn about several historical symbols that they will probably never get to experience in real-life. The images and information is wonderful when we are discussing the symbols individually or as a small group! Thank you so much for giving my students this wonderful learning tool that they normally would not have access to because many of my students are from low socioeconomic homes and exposure to most of the topics are very limited. SIMS - Special Technology
Funded Oct 8, 2014My classroom has been greatly impacted by being able to have access to the iPad Mini and case. They are able to look up information & images when we are discussing a topic in class. It helps them to be able to hold the iPad and look closely at the images or information. In my classroom, because it is a self-contained special education classroom all of my students have mild to severe disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, Autism, Visual Impairments and emotional disturbances and they are all on different learning levels but the iPad is very beneficial to all of my students no matter the disability or learning ability that they have. They all love looking up information and play a learn games. Thank you so much for giving my students this wonderful learning tool that they normally would not have access to because many of my students are from low socioeconomic homes and technology is limited. This is a tool that we use every day and it has helped motivate and engage my students in subject areas that they struggled with due to lack of prior knowledge and/or understanding. With this iPad mini we are able to watch videos, take virtual tours and investigate topics individually or as a small group! And the case helps me know that it is safe when being passed around by the students!”
