My students come from many low-income, single family homes. Many have been displaced from their home country due to natural disasters. Our school district can not afford to purchase more than 1 or 2 copies of a book per class. By not being able to have enough copies, students miss out on a chance to read but also a chance to work cooperatively with their peers.
