  • No Printer at Home...No Problem!

    Funded Nov 20, 2024

As you can see from the pictures, having a printer in the classroom helps students in my class and in others to print out their assignments and projects to submit; which in turn gives them more opportunities for academic improvement and excellence.

Sometimes, this is the simple, yet key component in getting students to turn in their work and increase their grade point average. At The High School for Arts and Business, we try to give students every opportunity and support towards academic success.

Thank you for partnering with us in this work!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Porsha Cohen

  • Students Can Love Literature, Mindfulness, and Creativity!

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

It is amazing how much students enjoyed having the time to express themselves creatively using the adult coloring books. Before delving into the content, giving students space to express themselves emotionally was very helpful as a point of entry.

The students were fully engaged in the mindfulness activity and were completely engaged. They even asked to do activities like this more often! Thank you for your generous donation of coloring books, pens, and markers for students to use.

In the fast paced world in which they live, it was nice to slow things down in a way that allowed their brains to work creatively!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Porsha Cohen

  • Squeaky Clean!

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

Words alone cannot express the impact this project has had on our school community so we are attaching pictures to show you!

A sincere, heartfelt thank you for your generosity in providing laundry and hygiene items to the parents and students of The High School of Arts and Business.

Our school athletes and their coaches also benefited from your support in helping to keep their uniforms clean! The team mom generally take uniforms home and launder them for students in need and your donation has helped us come together even stronger because we are a very tight knit community who helps one another.

You are now officially part of the HSAB Family!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Porsha Cohen

  • Picture This!

    Funded Sep 25, 2012

This letter is a small note of thanks for the impact your donation of the digital camera has had on my students. Students are now able to present projects and assignments of their friends and family that they can document using photography.

In some ways, it makes them feel like amateur documentary writers or film makers. They have been given the opportunity to create multimedia work that is engaging and uplifting.

Thank you for your assistance in making learning more fun and interesting despite the many budgetary challenges that exist.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Porsha Cohen

  • Will Work For Computer and Internet Access!

    Funded Jul 5, 2012

Thank you for your generous donation. It is greatly appreciated helpful tool to assist students with conducting research and becoming more technologically savvy. Now the kids are able to go on line and access information immediately. The world is at their fingertips!

With the emphasis on non-fiction text and writing according to the Common Core State Standards, the need to have access to the on line non-fiction texts such as speeches, biographies, and autobiographies, is very important. The students are learning to form educated opinions with document based support on key current issues such as immigration and America's looming debt crisis.

I am very proud of the work they are doing and it is because of your help that this has been made possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Porsha Cohen
