Keep On Shining!
Funded Jan 19, 2012I just want to thank you again for your generous donation. The flashlights could not have come at a better time! I was able to use them right away since I just started my astronomy unit with my science classes. We used the flashlights to represent the Sun as we explored why day and night occur on our classroom globes. The next day, we were able to examine why seasons occur and why certain areas of the globe experience different hours of daylight at different seasons. It is through your caring about the education of today's youth that has made possible for me to get my students to understand science through hands-on exploration!”

Alternative Energy For A Better World
Funded Sep 12, 2011I am extremely grateful for your generous donation to science education. The Hydrogen Fuel Car model and Solar Hydrogen Station made for a great visual when I taught about how there are other alternative energy sources that can be used instead of fossil fuels. Watching the car run on water was a hit for my kids. It was real exciting to see how something so little can spark such a huge discussion in my classroom. Students talked about how they can apply the same technology to other electronic devices to save on electric costs and to reduce the burning of fossil fuels. Getting students to think about their impact on the world
based on science gives me a great feeling as a teacher and I thank you for that gift!”

The Answer Is Blowing in the Wind
Funded May 9, 2011I want to take the time to thank you so much for your generous donation to my class! My students were able to use the anemometers to measure the wind speed as they collected weather data outside of the school. With the weather station, I was able to demonstrate how cold fronts and warm fronts move which gave a great visual for my students in their understanding of weather patterns which lead to the discussion of weather forecasting. You have made it possible for me to take abstract concepts and make it real for my students!”

This classroom project was brought to life by AT&T and 2 other donors. In Constant Motion
Funded Dec 31, 2010I want to express my extreme gratitude to you for funding this project. The constant motion cars are better then I expected and hoped for. My kids had so much fun while the determining the speed of their cars and performing all sorts of experiments with them. Their favorite was trying to race their cars by changing all sorts of things on their cars: adding different masses, changing the surface where they raced, and changing the angle of their ramps (just to name a few). Your generosity of heart will be greatly appreciated by current and future science students!”

Funded Jul 19, 2010I can't thank you enough again for your generous donation. The DNA model made a great visual when I taught about how DNA is able to replicate. The Human Genome kit was a hit for my kids. It was great to see how kids were able to construct a human pedigree and follow particular traits to see how they were inherited. The kit also allowed us to look at genetic defects and how scientists analyze DNA through DNA fingerprinting as well as discuss the ethical ramifications of cloning and other genetic advances. Getting students to think for themselves based on scientific facts is what I strive for as a teacher and you helped me accomplish that!”

Going Green
Funded Sep 14, 2010I want to let you know how much your donation made such an impact in my Environmental Science Unit. The equipment that was purchased really gave such great visuals to my students as to the different ways that we can use renewable energy. My students got such a kick out of using water to generate enough electricity to power a fan and the demonstration led the class into such great discussions to solve our energy crisis. Students also had a great time using the wind turbine to generate electricity and now they want to figure out how to make turbines more attractive so more people might use them on their homes!
Again, I thank you for what you have enabled me to do as a science teacher: to enlighten minds and spark ideas that could positively help Mother Earth in the future!

This classroom project was brought to life by Disney's Planet Challenge and one other donor.Classroom CSI
Funded Mar 5, 2010Thank you so much for helping to fund this project! With your generosity, my students can see how fun learning genetics can be when it is applied to what they see everyday on shows like "CSI" or "Law and Order." From the classroom kit that they have received from you, they have solved crimes by observing crime scene photos and by analyzing DNA to find the perpretators of the crime. There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing students excited to come to class to learn. They have really become active investigators of science in my classroom and this is all attributed to you! ”

Funded Apr 10, 2009I just want to take the time and thank you again for your generous donation that allowed me to get quality stopwatches for my students. Both my advance Earth Science Regents and general science classes have benefited from this gift. We have used them in so many experiments now and my students are really engaged in active hands-on scientific discovery. What a relief it is for me not to have to worry about them breaking in the middle of an activity. After all, we all know that timing is everything! ”

Funded Jun 30, 2008I just want to thank you so much for your donation. I can't wait for the students to use the equipment as they perform their experiments firsthand in our weather unit. There is nothing like discovery to make an impact on student learning. It is The true gift is not the money but the generosity of spirit that you have for making education a true experience for kids. Again, many thanks for making this possible”
