I work in a inner city school where 90% of our children live in the neighboring projects. I teach the most beautiful, precious 4-year-old children in New York City! They come to school eager to learn, and they absorb all the material like a sponge. They love to go outdoors. I encourage this by taking them outdoors daily if the weather permits. Not only is it important for them to develop their gross motor skills, but I would also like to instill in them the importance of physical activity. Child obesity is a problem in our community and pre-k is the first and best place to create awareness of this problem and find ways to prevent it. My goal is to help my students understand the importance of a good diet and physical activity and the role they play in overall health.
