I am lucky enough to work with a group of third grade students who love to learn by trying hard each and every day. They are a diverse group of students who deal with a variety of different obstacles outside of school. We are a low poverty school which means some of our students go home to unstable places where they are unsure of what they will eat for dinner or what clean clothes they have to wear each day to school. Regardless of this, they love to learn and ask questions about the world around them. While they don't always have the support at home to help, they try their hardest on homework and love coming back to school with creations they have made for the classroom. One of the best parts of the day is when I hear "I don't want school to end!" or "Please can we come here during vacation?" This allows me to know that school is a safe and happy place for them!
