  • Picture Books For Emotional Learning

    Funded May 7, 2024

My students were so excited when the boxes arrived with all of our books! Read aloud is one of our favorite times of they day and they couldn't want for me to start on these books. Not only are all of these books entertaining but they also have some great lessons for my students.

Some of the discussions we've had revolved around being scared, responsibility, bullying, having a growth mindset, dealing with stress, tattling, supporting classmates, and being a role model. I am so happy that these are all topics that I can start teaching my class about at such a young age to help them be better prepared for life. Each one of these skills is so important and I think sometimes we believe the students will just know what they are and how to deal with them in life.

My whole class and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You have brought excitement to our classroom at a time that is a struggle for a lot of students. You're generosity is sincerely appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farhatt

  • Playing in Third!

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation to help our class! As soon as the boxes started coming in the students couldn't wait to open them! Everyone was so surprised and a few of them said it was better than their Birthdays!

Every day the students ask if they can play Legos, Magnets, and Building Sticks. This has made such an impact on my class already. Learning how to work with a partner or group is extremely hard. By having these materials my students are already figuring out how to work with each better!

We are going to continue using everything to help this class as well as future classes. I have a feeling that these will always be some of the most popular choices. I am also going to use this as an opportunity to discuss kindness and generosity because I want to hep my students grow in all aspects of their lives. Thank you so much!”

    Mrs. Farhatt

  • Mix Things Up

    Funded May 10, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom so that we could get some new materials! My students were so excited when the boxes started showing up. We had to open them immediately because the students couldn't concentrate on anything else! This was a great surprise to get towards the end of the year and to get everyone excited again.

The students couldn't believe that we got a different seating option that allowed them to move around a little more. I had to put the table together immediately! The little stools go perfect in our room and we had to make a schedule to rotate who gets to sit on them each day.

The books have provided a new option for some of my struggling readers and given them chapter books to read like all of their friends! The crafting materials have helped us take a break from the daily routine and show our creative sides. Overall these materials have helped make us happy to be at school again and get through the end of this crazy year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farhatt

  • A Little Of This And A Little Of That

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

I can't even begin to thank you for all of the materials that my class was able to get! As the boxes started to come in the students were very curious and couldn't wait to see what was inside! I tried to make them wait a little while but they just kept asking if it was time!

With these materials we have been able to bring back a little more fun to our classroom! We have been able to play more games and use dice for different things again. It has also been really nice to have new books to share with my students. They get very excited every time I say that I'm going to read one of our new books!

You all have brought joy to my students in a time that has been really hard for everyone!”

  • Let's Play!

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you so much for everything that you provided for our classroom! When the boxes started arriving my students were so excited! It was hard to continue teaching because all they wanted to do was see what was inside. I was very excited too, so of course we had to open all of the boxes immediately. The students were talking about how the wanted to use each of the materials and asking when they would get time.

One of my favorite things has been seeing the students play the different games. Prior to having these, not a lot of students were able to interact with one another and figure out how to follow instructions. Everyone has really been interested in taking turns with each game. We have also been able to have a lot of conversations about how to get along in groups, be gracious winners, and also accept losing. These are all great life skills to learn at a young age!

Without donors like you I would not be able to provide all of these experiences. Your generosity is taking my class to a level that we would not have gotten to and I am forever grateful!”

  • Materials to Build Excitement!

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you again for your generosity towards my class! The day that the boxes started arriving was very exciting! All my students wanted to do was rip open the boxes immediately and see what was inside. Once we started opening they got started with everything right away!

Having the extra flexible seating has been amazing because now there are enough spots for all of my students to be comfortable. The students have also really loved the books that we got. It is always nice to be able to refresh our library and get rid of some of the books that are outdated. They have also really loved some of the prize items that I ordered.

Without donors like you we would never be able to get some of these amazing items. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farhatt

  • Teamwork For The Future!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I wish that you could've been in our classroom the day all of the boxes started arriving! My students were so excited that we could barely finish our lesson! Being able to open all of the boxes together was such a fun experience for all of us.

Of course we had to immediately take all of the plastic off and open up the packages to start exploring! The students were building and playing the games as fast as they could get everything out.

My students will continue to use all of these supplies to not only develop their own skills but to learn how to work together. I really see these as things that they will need for the rest of their lives. Thanks to you, I will be able to better prepare my students for the future!”

  • Activities Galore!

    Funded Apr 15, 2019

Thank you so much for all of your kind donations! My students were so excited when the boxes started arriving and could not wait to rip them open! Any time the office called to say that we had a delivery the students fought over who got to go to the office to grab the packages. It felt like a birthday celebration for everyone in the class.

As soon as we opened the boxes the students were ready to open each item. They have already started using the games and can't stop talking about how nice it is to have new ones. We have used the dice game for math and is sparked an excitement in some of my students that I have not seen in awhile. The markers also replaced a lot of the current ones we had that barely worked.

We are so excited to use all of our new supplies and cannot thank you enough! This time of year can be very hard to stay motivated and now we have a lot of new things to get us going again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farhatt

  • STEM and Flexible Seating and Books, Oh My!

    Funded Dec 8, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity! The day that all of our packages started arriving my students could not hide their excitement. Many of them said that this was like having an early Christmas at school. As soon as I started opening the packages the students wanted to get started with everything right away. I am so thankful for the excitement that all of these materials have created in my classroom.

Everyone has been taking turns with our new books and they want to keep reading. Even my struggling readers are excited about these books. Today we were able to do our first STEM project using a lot of the items such as the coffee filters, Popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, and tissue paper. This activity was engaging and the discussions that resulted at the end were great. My students and I cannot wait to get started with the rest of materials. Thank you again for your kind donations that have helped spark a love for learning again in my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farhatt

  • Books, STEM, and More!

    Funded Jun 26, 2018

The excitement in my room about all of the boxes that appeared was hard to contain! The students immediately wanted to know what was inside and who it came from. I briefly described what Donors Choose was and what it means to write a grant. My class still cannot believe that people who do not even know them were willing to donate money to materials for us to use!

Everyone quickly grabbed the books, Legos, math activities, and stools to start using them right away! They were very curious how all of them were going to be used. A few of my students have asked if we could read the books for our next read aloud! Some of the students that have not been too excited about anything were more than thrilled to find out that we were going to be using Legos in different subjects.

I know that everything I received from the amazing donors is going to help make all of my students better learners. We will be able to do projects like I have not been able to before and I think these will allow me to reach some of the reluctant students that I have not been able to in the past.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Farhatt

I have 20 students in my class and teach another class of 20 students. All of the students are 9 or 10 years old. They all come from a variety of different backgrounds. Fourth grade Math can be very challenging and I want to do whatever I can to help all of the students learn. My students are excited to be at school, but have many interests that extend beyond the classroom.
