• Mindfulness in Schools Reduces Unhealthy or Disruptive Behavior in Classrooms

  WOW! We are so grateful to have these tools to begin our new Yoga and Mindfulness Program this year at PS182. Every student in the school will now have an opportunity to practice yoga and mindfulness weekly using the resources donors so generously provided. Each week the children used the mats while doing their yoga practices and the mindfulness cards that helped us become more aware. I'm feeling so optimistic and hopeful about this program. I'm looking forward to seeing the positive impact this type of work will have on the students.”

• Essential Tools to Help ALL Students Succeed in the Classroom

  By donating items the children use daily and enjoy using (like those flair pens for writing) makes the writing experiencing even more enjoyable. The children use the colored flair pens for editing and revisions. We are really focusing this year on how mistakes and challenges help us grow and we don't mind seeing mistakes on our writing. This helps us and the reader know we are becoming more aware of ourselves as writers.

  The flexible seating has been so helpful for our students. It allows children to have choice where they sit and also gives them opportunities to focus and stay focused on their learning.”

• Giving Children Access to Basic Resources Leads to Success

  Having resources available in our classroom is extremely valuable for our students. We use pens, markers, crayons and all types of writing tools many times throughout the day. This gift means so much more than you know! When the children saw the boxes arrive and we unpacked them, they couldn't wait to begin using the markers. We used every Friday afternoon as art time and learned drawing skills.

  When folks are willing to help support our classrooms, the children see ways that others value education as well. Your generosity has helped up grow as writers, artists and creators.

• Resources, Tools, and Books, Help Develop more Complex Language Skills.

  Our students have grown so much this year. They have improved their fine motor skills and expressive language skills using the games, puzzles and tools sent on behalf of the donors. The children were so excited to have beautiful tools to help them practice learning their letters, numbers and handwriting skills.

  We are working on using more sensory tools as a way to regulate some of our emotions and behaviors.

• Flexible Seating = Success for All

  Since the devastation of our virus, the children were not able to use the resources in the Spring. We have been using the flexible seating everyday in our classroom.

  We are a class of 6 students currently and all benefit from the resources provided.

  Children can focus more while engaging in their work and regulate their bodies when necessary.

  The children are really fortunate to be coming to school daily and having this type of classroom which allows for flexibility can only help them thrive. We are so lucky to have the support of others.”

  We are so grateful to have these resources now. We all have such different needs and being able to give each child what they need has the biggest impact.

  Children with special needs need multiple means of engagement. We can offer them tools to write, read, think, listen and speak now. Each day they will grow as learners thanks to all the generosity from folks who believe in education.
