  • Phonics Can Be Fun!

    I want to thank you again for contributing to my project Phonics Can Be Fun. The money went towards purchasing games for the students I work with, to reinforce the phonics skills they are learning.

    The students enjoy game Fridays when the games come out. Often when I work with these children they feel like they are missing out on fun that is happening in their classrooms. These games make the kids feel special. They have their own special time and get to bring the games home to play with their families.

    I hope to hold a family game night outside in the fall and use these games to encourage literacy. These games will have a lasting impact at the school.”

I work with first and second graders who are struggling to learn to read in their classroom. The students will learn systematic, multi-sensory, explicit Phonics using sand, hand movements, games, poetry and decodables. I paid for this specific training out of my own pocket but I need your help with providing some of the materials needed to properly teach my lessons. I use sand and movement to help the children learn and remember letters and words. Each item I am asking for will not only be used by my small group but also shared with the grade level teachers.
