During these trying times, peace of mind is so important for our parents, students, and teachers. In recent months, we have made huge strides to keep our village safe in the COVID-19 world: Masks, distance, virtual options, hand sanitizer dispensers, and beyond. We've even removed the carpet in our EAST classroom to keep things shiny and clean, without as many pesky allergens. But in an interior room without windows, there can be some anxieties about fresh air. Paired with our school's ERV system, I would like to add three medical-grade air purifiers so that we take one additional step in keeping our kiddos safe during these odd times. This will allow our EAST students to continue to help solve problems in our local community while staying safe from dangerous viruses, bacteria, and allergens.
In Springdale, we teach them all. At our school, we have vigorously tried to educate our parents about how safe our building will be in the Fall. I think this is a reason you see SES one of the lowest buildings in the district to lose students to virtual or other online platforms for the 2020-2021 school year; we have made the effort in the last four months to stay connected and ensure safety. By adding these purifiers to our EAST classroom, we will not only be able to add children of ALL different ability levels to our EAST program for enrichment, but we will also be able to enhance our community through the EAST model of problem-solving through student-driven project-based learning. The classroom content will continue to be rigorous, innovative, and safe.
