My students are fourth and fifth graders who love learning. They all come from very diverse homes and backgrounds. Many of my students come from families where they themselves or their parents have immigrated to the United States, therefore their first language is not English. While our families are very supportive of their students, many students struggle to get the extra help they need at home to grasp complex mathematical concepts because of the language barrier between school and home. In addition to these challenges, over 65% of our students also come from low income households. However, even with all the challenges that my students face, they are all wonderful hardworking kids who love to learn and discover.
