Magic Carpet for 1st
Funded Sep 20, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity. We use our new carpet every single day. Our day starts out with a morning meeting where we all gather on the rug together. My students sit on the rug many times during the day for whole group activities, small group activities and much more.
My students were so excited when they first came in a saw the new carpet. They couldn't wait to choose a circle spot to sit on. They love having their own spots on the rug.
We are so grateful that we were able to get a new carpet for our classroom. Thank you so much for helping us out! We really appreciate it! This carpet will be a great seat for many students to come!”

Funded Sep 17, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation. My kids absolutely love having their own headphones. We do so many computer programs that require headphones, such as reading, math lessons, and more. Having their own headphones allows them to listen to their computers without the distraction of other students' computers. My students use their headphones every day. I also want to thank you for the mailbox system that was purchased through your donation. Now my students have their very own mailboxes to out completed work, and notices from the school. This helps to keep my students and the classroom organized. Thank you so much for all your support toward my classroom.”

Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students were so excited when I gave them their materials in September.
You really helped set my students up for success with remote learning. I was able to give each student a math bucket filled with various math manipulatives. Having that bucket for each student has helped to keep their materials organized. Each student was given a math bucket with 20 cubes, 20 red and yellow disks, place value rods and cubes, and 2 dice. This has been so helpful when teaching math. They are able to count, solve equations, add and subtract using their math tools.
I was also able to give each student their own whiteboard and markers. We use these during every subject throughout the day. We use them for math, reading, and writing. They are able to write things down and then show me.
I can not thank you enough for your generous donations and for helping my students during this tough time. Being able to give my students the supplies they need while learning at home means the world to me and my students. Thank you so much!”

Funded Jun 7, 2019Thank you so much for donating to my project to get balancing balls into my classroom. My students were so excited when the boxes arrived and even more excited when they saw what was inside. They could not wait to use the balancing balls. They use them during group time, reading time, and even writing time. They have been an amazing addition to our classroom this year.
Students who have had difficulty in the past sitting have been able to use the balancing ball to sit comfortably. This has helped their focus, and it's also a great work out for them. I allow for flexible seating in my classroom, so the students can choose the most comfortable seated position for them. The balancing balls allow them the freedom to get their work done in a seat that is comfortable for them.
I can not thank you enough for your donation, you have helped to make such an impact on my classroom. Thank you!”

Funded Dec 14, 2018My students absolutely loved the resources that you helped to fund for our classroom. We use the whiteboards every day at math time and for spelling words. We also use the markers and erasers daily. My students were so excited when I opened the box and told them what we had. Each student now has their own whiteboard to keep in their desk and their own marker and eraser. We also are now able to keep a set of whiteboards in our guided reading baskets. Making sure my students have all the materials they need to be successful is so valuable. My students are able to be independent learners and take pride and ownership in the work they do. Thank you so much for all your support and your donations! These materials will last for a long time in my classroom.”

I am using it to show them how to form letters correctly.
My students were so excited when they saw the new materials. They could not wait to use the new whiteboards and markers. I told the students that you were all so kind and helped us get these new materials for our classroom. They are so thankful that you were able to help us. My classroom will be better prepared for lessons now that they have the materials they need. Thank you so much!”

Funded Dec 17, 2015I was overwhelmed with appreciation when I found out my project had been fully funded. I was so excited I immediately had the carpet unrolled the day I received it. When my students first saw the classroom carpet they were so excited. They couldn't wait to sit down for morning meeting. My students and I absolutely love our new classroom carpet. It has helped my students tremendously with transition times, personal space, and organization. The rug has six colors, and seven shapes. It is a beautiful addition to our classroom. Other teachers, students, and administration have come by just to admire our new carpet and have commented on how well it compliments our classroom.
In my first grade classroom we do a lot of whole group instruction so my students spend a lot of time on the carpet. We do our core math lessons, Readers Workshop, and read-alouds on the rug. Our new rug has become an invaluable asset in my classroom over the last few months. Now I can transition my students by calling them by shape, color, or rows. Each student was assigned a spot on the rug and that is their own spot, they know exactly where to sit every time they come to the rug. This has helped them with personal space. They know they have to sit inside of their shape. They enjoy having their own personal space to come to when we do whole group activities.
One of the other items in the donation was the individual rugs. My students use these at independent reading time. These rugs came with numbers from 1-30. Each student has an assigned number and they know what number they have, and when it's independent reading time they find their number and go sit in their reading spot and they have their own carpet to sit on. These rugs have also come in handy when teaching the number line and numerical order. These rugs are square shaped with large printed numbers on them. We have used them in math to put the numbers in order and then it becomes a life size number line. The students can walk up and down, count, count backwards, skip count, and much more using this giant number line. We also use them for addition and subtraction problems. We can use the numbers to do simple addition and subtraction problems within 30. These rugs have given my classroom more resources than I ever could have even imagined when I first asked for them in my project.
My students and I are incredibly grateful for these classroom resources. We use them everyday and I feel so lucky to have had this project funded. These resources will be used in my classroom for many years to come. It will be great to start my next school year with these resources already in my classroom. Thank you so much for your generous donation, without donors like you so many classrooms would go without having the resources that they need.”

Ms. Davis
Fantastic First Graders Need Far More Books!
Funded Nov 21, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donations to my First Graders Need Far More Books project. Your donation has had a tremendous impact on my students. When the box arrived with the new materials my students were overjoyed. When I showed them what was in it and explained that the materials had been generously donated by people who wanted to help us and our classroom they were beyond excited. They were so happy to know that people wanted to help them and our classroom.
My students are so excited to read and have many books to choose from. It is so wonderful to see their faces when they are choosing a book, the covers of the books are so brightly illustrated and they really get the students excited to read. They have such a wide variety of resources to choose from and there is something for every student, whether its fiction or nonfiction. My students are so excited to read about everything from animals, to cars, food, science, the weather, gardens, birthday parties, and so much more. These books have increased their love of reading; which is such an important foundation to build in the early years of school. My students read these books, in school, and they also have the opportunity to choose books to bring home for the week to practice reading. They are so responsible with the materials and always return them in pristine condition.
We use the whiteboards everyday during our guided reading time. The students love having their own white boards to write on during this time. They practice writing their spelling words, sight words, and words from the story.
My students also love the dividers. They use the dividers when they need some individual space, or while taking their spelling and math tests. The dividers provide them with a sense of space so they can truly concentrate on the task at hand.
The book boxes helped me organize my classroom library. Now the library is easily accessible for students to find the correctly leveled books they need. I was able to have one book box for each reading level from A-L. Now my students can easily organize and sort books by their level.
The large book boxes have helped me organize my materials for guided reading. Each of my guided reading groups has their own box filled with white boards, and books for the teacher to read with them.
The colored letter trays have served as math bins for my students. Each day I put all the materials for math that the groups will need in the letter trays. It helps the students and I stay organized during math time.
The impact that your donation has had on my classroom is unbelievable. Thanks to donors like you, my classroom materials and library will forever be expanded, not only for the students that I have in front of me today, but also for the students yet to come in the future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davis
