  • ¡Vamos a Leer!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity in funding my DonorsChoose project! Your support has made a tremendous difference in my high school Spanish classroom. With the addition of new books to our library, my students now have a wealth of engaging, level-appropriate texts to explore during their choice reading time, transforming how they experience language learning.

These books are more than just reading material; they are tools for building confidence, fluency, and comprehension in Spanish. By immersing themselves in stories, my students practice essential skills like context clue recognition, vocabulary building, and grammatical structure analysis—all in an enjoyable and meaningful way. Each text opens a door to understanding different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life, creating a rich, immersive experience that makes learning Spanish exciting and personal.

I've seen their curiosity blossom as they connect with characters and themes that resonate with their own lives. One student, who initially struggled with language learning, has developed a newfound love for reading because of these books. Another student has been diving into every graphic novel we received, and her enthusiasm is contagious, inspiring others to explore genres they've never tried before.

Your contribution has empowered my students to see themselves as readers and learners who can embrace challenges and grow. These books have sparked joy, curiosity, and a sense of achievement in my classroom, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

Thank you for helping make this dream a reality for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coleman

  • Let's Read!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous support of world language education! Your contributions will help me create a library with books that students enjoy reading. Reading in a second language increases vocabulary and helps students internalize more advanced structures and grammar. One of my other goals is to create life-long readers. We greatly appreciate your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coleman

I'm a high school Spanish teacher. I try to include a variety of activities in my classroom. We change the set up of the classroom multiple times during one class period, sometimes students are sitting in collaborative groups at tables, sometimes we're sitting in a double circle of chairs, working in pairs and sometimes we move all the furniture to interact as a whole group. The desks and chairs we have right now are metal and extremely bulky and heavy, they take up so much room and are hard to move. In my ideal classroom, the desks and chairs would be stackable and light, so students could move seamlessly between activities. Thank you!
