I teach life skills in a rural school with a little over 500 students. I see first, second, and third graders on a rotation schedule and each class visits my room for forty minutes during their schedule. Our school is 75% free or reduced lunch which also means there is a great deal of poverty in our school. My class teaches them basic skills to adapt socially while learning about such things as nutrition, hygiene, behavior and strategies for showing character traits through our character education program.
