Celebrate Us!
Funded Sep 20, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donations. With your donations, I was able to get a variety of incentive items to present to my students to celebrate their accomplishments. They are able to choose items for being named student of the quarter. They are also able to choose items when they are recognized by a teacher for improving their effort in class, improving their grades and being a respectful student and classmate.
At our school, we are promoting our 4 core values: honor, courage, kindness, and resilience. It is nice to not only be able to praise students when they are displaying these values, but to also reward students who consistently display these values. We all know the squeaky wheel gets the oil and the quiet, well behaved kids often get overlooked. With these incentives, we are rewarding all our wheels, especially the ones that don't squeak.”

Reaching Our Goals
Funded Mar 5, 2022Thank you so much for your donations to fund my incentives project. My students' eyes lit up when they saw the bags of candy and crackers. I was running out of their favorite snacks, but now they are working hard to meet their goals so they can choose from our new baskets. I've even had a few students try to bargain with me. "If my weekly goal is to finish 2 lessons in software, can I get double celebrations when I finish my third and fourth lesson?" Now that I have plenty of supplies, I happily agree to the bargain.
They are making such great progress this year. When they ask if they spell a word correctly, they stretch the sounds out for me to prove they've spelled it correctly. I am so proud of their hard work and achievement this year!”

Let's Celebrate!
Funded Aug 24, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation. My class is full of students who are far below grade level. We are working on becoming fluent with our phonics sounds to help make decoding new words easier.
We practice these sounds using software. Did you know that our 26 letters in the alphabet make a combined 44 sounds in the English language? No wonder some kids have a challenging time remember them all. There is a lot of repetition in our software and my students get bored and frustrated with it at times. Giving them a piece of candy, gum or bag of chips really helps motivate the students to get their work done and do it with a high level of effort.
We all get paid for our hard work and these students are no exception. When I introduce a new type of candy or chip, the level of effort rises. I am so proud of how hard my kiddos work and I'm glad I can reward them for their effort.”

Funded Oct 18, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students are far below grade level and we are working on becoming fluent with our phonics sounds. Without those foundational skills, it is almost impossible to decode and read grade level texts.
With the mirrors, each student is able to watch their tongue placement while we practice sounds so they can see, feel and hear what the correct sound is like. This not only has helped my struggling readers, but it has also helped my ELL students when they are practicing speaking English. Words and letters sound very different between languages.
Once again, I really appreciate your help in obtaining supplies for my classroom.”

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!
Funded Dec 1, 2020We thank you for your generosity. Each student now has their own basket to put their materials in. This helps us make sure we are keeping the spread of germs to a minimum. We were also able to use them to help us keep more organized. Some students were also able to get new earbuds to use with their software. Being able to hear the correct pronunciation or words and word parts is crucial to help build our basic phonics skills so we can become better and more fluent readers.
My class has also become much more motivated to work on software and complete a book, paperwork and a quiz because of the new variety of treats. Snickers and Hot Cheetos have been the coveted celebration and they work hard to earn them. Thanks to you, our class is working better and harder than ever. Thank you for all you do.”

Funded May 23, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity! Every student in my class now has access to a mouse and earbuds! These items make doing software easier and helps the kids be more accurate.
Each student is able to use a mouse during class. The old way, we had to use the mouse pad on our chromebooks. This caused mistakes to happen frequently since we didn't have the fine motor control to always click on the correct answer. With the mouse, clicking on the correct answer is much easier.
Students are also able to use the mice when they take their tests. This allows them to be more accurate in their selections while improving the speed of their tests. I really don't think we could make as much progress as we already have without these necessary tools. Thank you again for your help!”

Read Out Loud!
Funded Nov 27, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation. I teach struggling readers who are far below grade level in a title 1 school. Many students receive free or reduced lunches so expecting them to purchase a set of ear buds with a microphone is just not a feasible request.
In my class, our main focus is on phonics skills such as letter sound recognition, blends, and endings. In order to improve our skills we do software each day to practice those phonics skills and we need a good set of headphones with a microphone attached. We have had our fair share of headphones that don't work and it really raises the frustration level of my kids. With your donations we were able to purchase a set of ear buds with microphone for every student in all my classes. The students were excited to be able to pick their own color as well.
Now that each student has their own set of ear buds we don't have near as many technical issues as we once did. This allows us to spend more time on software instead of troubleshooting. I have seen such amazing gains in all my students already this year and we couldn't do it as well without your help. Thank you so much for your caring generosity.”

Hear It, Speak It, Type it!
Funded Dec 20, 2017Thank you so much for donating money to fund my project! All of my students are able to use their computer program every single day with our new headphones!!
The new headphones are so easy to use. My students don't have to waste precious minutes trying to fix or troubleshoot technology. They are able to get on with ease. The new technology has also lessened our frustration level since we no longer have to troubleshoot.
I hate to say that new headphones have that much of an affect on our class but they really do. It is amazing that something so simple can have such a big impact on behaviors and learning. We say thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you really have made a huge difference in our class.”
