What's That? Zoom In and Learn about Our Microscopic World!

Funded Aug 11, 2024

Our class was thrilled to receive the new microscopes and science books! We've been using them to dive into our unit on ecosystems. For one project, students used the microscopes to examine different plant and soil samples, comparing the microorganisms they observed under different conditions. The students were fascinated by the tiny details they could now see firsthand, which made the topic of ecosystems come alive in a way that reading alone couldn't. The science books are also a great resource, as they provide vivid images and explanations that support our hands-on learning.

When the students first saw the microscopes and books, their excitement was palpable! Many had never used a microscope before, so their curiosity spiked immediately. They gathered around, asking questions and couldn't wait to start investigating. Moving forward, we'll be building on this momentum by having students design their own mini ecosystem models and observe how changes in one part of the ecosystem affect the whole system. The next steps will involve data collection, where students will track and analyze their observations using the skills they've learned.”
