Calling All Chromebook Chargers!
Funded Apr 27, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity. As we know, technology is extremely helpful and engaging for students. The students in my classroom no longer need to worry about chrome books' batteries dying in the middle of a game or virtual lesson. This charging station has helped us keep our chrome books charged, so that we can all use today's technology to deepen our learning.
This charging station has also helped us stay neat and organized. We no longer have power strips and extension cords running through our classroom floors.”

Books, Books, and More Books!
Funded Aug 29, 2022I can not begin to express my appreciation for my new classroom bookcases. My students were absolutely ecstatic about their library. We have been using the first few days of school to explore the thousands of books in our class. The students have learned about how our library is organized, so that we can be sure to take great care of our books.
I have purchased all new bins to go along with our new books and bookcases. Students explored our library and helped label all of our books. This built a sense of community and ownership over taking care of them. The students, thanks to you, will be able to enjoy our new classroom library for years to come.”

Reading Power!
Funded Apr 30, 2021I want to thank you all once more for all your generosity in helping me fully fund this project in just a few short days. It was heartwarming to see so many people in my own community reach out to help the students of our city, from a former student, to past coworkers, to family members, and friends.
As we know, many of our students are from low income families with no books in their homes to read. Schools are the place where our students build their love of reading. During this pandemic, I vowed as a teacher to bring BOOKS into my students' hands as soon as they all came back to in person learning. During this very difficult year, students have been reading on a screen, but there is NOTHING like reading a book from cover to cover. I began this journey with asking my students to create a reading "wish list". It was the only homework assignment I have given where students were actually excited. They came in the next day eager to share the titles of books they researched. They shared their titles and how they found the titles they wanted to read. They made personal reading goals and promised me they would reach it if I found a way to get them the books. Of course that day, I went straight to the public library and began with checking out one book for each student on their lists.
Little did I know, that within a very few short days, I had created my project on Donors Choose and had the project fully funded! Within two weeks, I will actually have all these titles in my classroom library. Thanks to you, my students will end the school year strong. But most importantly, they will end it with a love of reading that hopefully will continue on in their future.”

Extra! Extra!
Funded Mar 2, 2020Thank you so much for your donation to my Extra! Extra! project. When I started this project before the pandemic, my students were face to face and in school everyday. Since March, things have been a little different, but this project has helped me engage my students more than I expected.
Now that students are learning virtually, teachers all over the world have had to learn how to adapt all their lessons. This has been a challenge for us. My school year began with a hybrid model. This mean that we had some students in person and some students learning at home. It was a challenge to teach to both groups simultaneously, but the resources I received from this project made it easier. I was able to differentiate the articles for both of my groups and they both enjoyed them greatly.
These Scholastic News articles have allowed my students to be more engaged in reading lessons at home. The online platform has been extremely helpful. I have been able to use the resources in the platform to create engaging interactive Powerpoints with articles, videos and games. The articles are up to date with important readings about current world topics such as the election and pandemic that are age appropriate. The videos provide excellent background knowledge about these topics, that link to the big ideas in the articles. The games are an engaging way to reinforce the comprehension of the text.
I truly appreciate your generous donation to fund my project!”

This classroom project was brought to life by A group of anonymous donors and one other donor.Reading and Building our Growth Mindset at the Same Time!
Funded Jul 28, 2019Once again, I greatly appreciate your generous donation. Due to your donation, my kids were able to practice very important reading skills and read some rigorous text, all while building a better classroom community.
Our focus for this unit study was characterization. Students learned how to analyze a character in depth by using indirect characterization. They learned how readers can infer character traits by thinking about the character's speech, thoughts, effect on others, actions, and looks.
Reading time in our classroom is filled with students READING. We READ everyday, we TALK everyday, and we WRITE everyday. I find that my students are really engaged in the texts we read. They actually begged me to read more almost on a daily basis while reading Fish in a Tree. My goal was been accomplished when students do not want to put their books down!
Thank you so much for putting this lovely book in the hands on my fourth graders. They appreciate you!!!
Sincerely, '
