  • The Write Way!

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

I am amazed at the impact that the magnetic whiteboards and markers have made in my classroom. My students love the letter writing and math activities that these resources provide for them. They are excited when they are able to use the whiteboards for multiple activities that provide hands on learning.

My students love rainbow writing and the colored whiteboard markers give them the opportunity to not only write letters and learn the letter sounds, it gives them the opportunity to explore putting the letters together to make simple CVC words or tell a story by drawing and picture and dictating what is happening in the pictures.

We have magnetic letters and numbers and the student have the ability to manipulate the hands on materials to revise and change their thinking when they are making rhyming words or putting compound words together.. My students are making math sentences and adding to ten by utilizing the magnetic numbers and counting circles on the whiteboards. This is something that my students will enjoy for the entire year.

I can't THANK YOU enough for supporting this project for my early learning and helping prepare them for kindergarten!”

  • At Home Classroom Supplies Just For Me!

    Funded Dec 3, 2020

Everyday when my students set themselves up for distance learning in their homes they are organized and ready to learn. All of the students in my class are excited to use the supplies that come in the "At home learning backpacks." When school starts the backpacks come out and are easily accessible by my little learners. Keeping supplies organized during this new challenge was something that I was worried about. With your generous donations my students were able to use multiple different manipulatives, art supplies, writing utensils, as well as having their own individual journals, alphabet cards, number learning games, and a backpack to organize and store their materials. This project had a major impact on the enthusiastic attitude and confidence my students demonstrated about their ability to learn and grow this year. Although my district provided some supplies my students love to create art projects and the extra crayons, scissors, and contruction paper ensured continous learning that incorporated fun activities. Thank you so much for your support!!!”

  • Jump Into Storytime

    Funded Aug 12, 2020

The ability to read and project stories in books full sized while teaching virtually is amazing and allows students to view the book just like if they were in the classroom setting. Attempting to read a story to young children on the computer is challenging at times. A document camera highlights the book details, allows you to zoom in on specific parts of the story, text, and important teaching aspects for the students.

The students in my class are very young but fully understand how to utilize technology literacy to enhance their educational experiences. The stand for the document camera allows my students to see the details in all aspects of the lessons presented. The students ask me to use the doc camera stand to highlight stories, work on mathematical equations, do directive draws, and even create with 3-d art materials.

My students are engaged, excited, and involved as they visually see and understand the learning opportunities they are presented with.

Thank you so much for your generosity!”

  • Kindergarten Study at Home Backpacks

    Funded May 7, 2020

Thank you so much for the support and generosity you have shown my students. The materials in the backpacks have allowed my students to participate during distance learning.

While engaging in online virtual learning my students were able to utilize the materials inside the backpacks to some everyday learning that we normally do in the classroom such as count, pattern, draw, and write, and explore new stories.

As students participated in class zoom meetings students were able to participate in whole group instruction with the linker cubes, patterning bears, writing materials, and parents had access to a variety of ideas for asynchronous learning with the Calendar of ideas in the backpack.

Seeing their smiling faces and enthusiasm as we learned together makes this experience a positive moment in their lives as well as mine. Thank you again for your support! :)”

  • The Creepy Crawly Changing World

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

We would like to thank you for making our science area a huge success for the children.

When we first received the materials, the students were very excited to see everything. The Madagascar hissing cockroaches were a big hit. We talked about how we need to respect their habitat and not shake their homes. We told them how to care for the caterpillars, ladybug larva, praying mantis cocoons, and the cockroaches. The children got to hold and observe the cockroaches and we made a habitat for them. We fed the ladybugs raisins, put the praying mantis eggs in a container, in the science area to observe as well.

The caterpillars start to eat and grow very quickly. The children would look at them daily and talked about how big they were starting to get. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and talked about the life cycle of the butterfly. We discussed how moths made cocoons and caterpillars made a chrysalis. The day came when we transferred the formed chrysalis to the butterfly pavilion. The children would check everyday and make predictions as to when they would come out. Finally the day arrived and one was out and new. By the next day they had all hatched.

We celebrated the success of the butterflies, ladybugs, and praying mantises by letting them go out side into the world.”

  • The Creepy Crawly Changing World

    Funded Mar 15, 2017

The excitement that begins when a package was delivered was just the beginning. The students have been learning about the insects that live in their backyards and surrounding environments. The science center is filled with living creatures that will be changing and growing in the next month. The children learned about the different habitats and needs that each insect requires. Our classroom is learning how to care for living insects and how they change. The caterpillars have been growing and today they started making their chrysalises. The excitement has prompted children to ask for books in our reading area that they can see what changes will occur next. The students are feeding the ladybugs, watching the praying mantis cocoons, and listening to the sounds that the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches make when they are held. Our science is literally crawling with life. Thank you for helping us teach our students about how life changes around us everyday.”

  • Making Yourself at Home

    Funded Mar 6, 2017

Thank you very much for helping us fund this project. Our reading area has become an inviting reading area where stories and reenactments have become a common activity. From the minute the new furniture was set up the area attracted the children. Students began picking up familiar stories and engaging in story walks with other classmates. You could hear the soft chatter as conversations about Little Red Riding Hood, Brown Bear, and The Three Little Pigs were shared between students. The area has been transformed from an active area that students jumped from bean bag to bean bag in to an area where students share the sofa and chair with other children. The students have been inviting their peers, families, and teachers in to snuggle up and enjoy a story. This has been a wonderful change in our classroom. During free choice time the area is buzzing with stories, conversations, and a sense of community that has rejuvenated the interest in literacy.”

  • Natural Mathematicians

    Funded Mar 30, 2016

    Dear Donor,

The curiosity of young children is amazing. My students were very interested in the way the numbers had been engraved on the number rocks. They began counting the rocks finding the numbers, putting them in order from zero to ten, and some of the students put them on paper writing in addition and subtraction signs and attempting simple mathematical operation skills.

When we received the natural resources my students were very excited to see that numbers were written on the rocks, tree parts had been made into buttons, and that you could build phenomenal structures that could be utilized as ramps for the ball to roll down. Engineering skills became the popular activity in the classroom. Finding rocks in their yards and painting them with alphabet letters and numbers became an activity that children engaged in at home with parents.

After engaging in these activities with my students we went on nature walks, gathered materials and incorporated them into the materials that we received from your generous donation. The students found almost every alphabet letter, number, and building resource in nature you could image. When you stop and take time to look around there are so many different learning materials that we can provide for students that will help them develop learning opportunities on their own no matter where they are. Thank you again for support our classroom and giving my students materials that promoted engineering, fine motor, number recognition, mathematical operations, sorting, and fun!”

  • Who am I? Pete the Cat, Rainbow Fish, or The Old Lady?

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

    Dear Donors,

The materials that you so generously helped provide funding for has made an important impact in our classroom. The students in my classroom have unitized the resources by looking at the pictures in the book and using the flannel board pieces to retell the story line. They have the opportunity to engage with hands on materials that assist them with the sequencing of the story.

When the children came to circle time one day I had the new flannel board sitting by my seat. Several of the children asked what the board was for. As I got the book out that I was going to read that day ( Rainbow fish) you could see the excitement in their eyes. "I love that book" they stated. "Guess what I have to go along with the book today?" I said. When I took the Rainbow fish piece out of the pocket of the flannel board set everyone started to smile. My students sat through the book twice and asked if they could read the book during the next learning center time.

After introducing the stories to the students I can now put the flannel board out on a table that the students can access by themselves. The students love to look at stories that they are interested in and can remember the story line. The older students buddy read with the younger students, showing them how to turn the pages, how to sequence the characters, and how to enjoy reading on their own. My students request Pete the Cat, Rainbow fish, and many other stories that we receive from supports such as yourselves. Thank you again for your contribution and making this project possible for my students. We appreciate all of your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Julie Bradford
