The school is located in dense urban area and draws students from many parts of the city. The student body is nearly 95 percent minority, with a percentage of English language learners 20 percent higher than the district. This diversity makes our school wonderful and very culturally rich, but can often result in tension, due to a dearth of meaningful opportunities for students of different ethnicity to interact. To bridge the gap there are several sports teams, but few clubs or activities to build school spirit and student self esteem outside of the school day.
