The Galaxy Around Us
Funded Jan 7, 2013The words "thank you" really do not seem strong enough when I am trying to say exactly that... I learned of Donor's Choose through my school's central office and never could have imagined two years later the impact it would have on not only me, but also on my students. When I wrote this latest grant request back in the fall, it was for things that I wish I had in my classroom when teaching these skills. My students and I were so blessed to have gotten them by the time we began reviewing for our state's big "test" this spring. They allowed me to review skills with my students in a hands-on learning environment that cannot be beat.
As you probably read on my initial page, I teach in a high poverty school. Many of my students have never left this area and have difficulty putting the "outside" world into perspective - especially in Science. Thanks to your gracious donations, I was able to give real world knowledge to my students and show them the power of giving. Please know that the impact you made was a strong one and I hope will live with my students for many years to come!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davidson
Wow!!! Hands-On Learning in Science
Funded Apr 13, 2012My students have very quickly learned to love it when the secretary of our school lets me know that I have a "package" in the office. They know that this means new science equipment has arrived from our Donor's Choose friends. It brings a smile to all of our faces! I wish I knew how to fully put into words what your generosity means to me and to my students. Yes, I could teach without them, but the students learning is so much more concrete now that they have these hands-on tools.
Thank you for the difference you have made in the lives of my current students and all of the students that will come through this room and be able to use these supplies. You and your donation have made a difference in all of our lives!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davidson

Funded Feb 29, 2012There are times as a teacher that stand out in your mind more than others. The incredible feeling you get when a student finally "gets it" is one of those moments. Thanks to the overwhelming donation by all of you to fund this project, my students and I are having the opportunity to experience such moments.
My students were so excited when new boxes would arrive and they knew that they included things for them! It was wonderful to watch them explore and enjoy learning. The items that you funded are such that not only were my current students able to use them, but students will be able to use them for years to come.
It humbles me to know that people who do not know me or my students care enough about education to make these donations. Please know that you have impacted not only my students on an education level, but on a "character" level as well. The ability to teach them about unconditional generosity has been extremely profound. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davidson

Funded Mar 15, 2012When we were first approached about this grant opportunity, I was not sure what to expect. I can honestly tell you that the whole process has exceeded any expectations I might have had. My students and I have felt like kids on Christmas morning every time a box arrives with more of our goodies.
As a Science teacher, I know that not all students have access to the materials that will help them learn. Another issue is that the students cannot always visualize what you are teaching. The items that you helped donate to our classroom are providing my students with that exact opportunity. They are getting hands-on knowledge of weather and getting to "see" what I am teaching.
There are no words to tell you what all of this means to me as a teacher! The fact that you do not know me or my students makes it even more incredible. Please know that your donation means the world to me and it will make an impact on my classroom and students for years to come!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Davidson
