  • Digital Camera for 28 First Graders in the South Bronx

    Funded Dec 21, 2004

Wow! I do not know how to begin to thank you for your generous donation. I have a class of 28 first graders who blow me away every day. I try to give them every opportunity and experience that I had when I was younger. I never realized how lucky I was until I started teaching in the South Bronx. Your donation will enable me to document my student’s lives as first graders. At the beginning of the school year I asked my children to bring in a baby picture for an "All About Me" book and several of them didn't own a baby picture. I found that so sad. I will now be able to give them pictures of their lives that they can always look back on to ensure that they will always have memories. On behalf of my children and myself, thank you so much”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

  • Photocopier for 28 First Graders in the South Bronx

    Funded Dec 13, 2004

Thank you so much for funding the photocopy machine for my class. I don't have access to a photocopy machine, and my kids are constantly missing out on activities that I will now be able to do. Even photocopying their work so they can send it home will make my kids' eyes light up. My kids don't have much, and I want to give them everything in my power that I can to help them. They are so bright and special. They deserve what the kids in the suburbs have. My class, as well as myself, are extremely grateful for your generous donation. I truly can not thank you enough. You are going to make 28 little first graders very happy”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

  • Holiday Information: Books for 28 First Graders in South Bronx

    Funded Dec 8, 2004

Thank you so much for funding my proposal for my class. I have 28 bright, loving and adorable first graders who are in great need of help. I do everything in my power to help them, but I am only one person, and my kids have overwhelming needs. Most of my students are not familiar with life outside of their neighborhood. What they see on a daily basis is scary. When holidays come around, many of them have never even heard of them. They love to learn about new holidays and share the information with their families. Your generous donation will GREATLY aid in my teaching, as well as my students' learning. Thank you again”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

  • U.S. and World Maps for 28 First Graders in South Bronx

    Funded Mar 11, 2004

Thank you so much for funding my proposal. Myself, as well as my students, are incredibly grateful for your generosity. I am trying to give my kids everything that I can in order for them to learn and prosper, and you have greatly aided in that! Thank you again”

    With gratitude,

  • Laminator for 27 First Graders in the South Bronx

    Funded Jan 15, 2004

I am extremely thankful to you for choosing to fund my proposal. My school is extremely large, over 1,650 students, and we do not have a laminating machine. I am not able to preserve any of my children's work. Your donation will come in great use in my classroom. I was fortunate enough to be chosen to teach my grade's gifted program this year, and my kids produce unbelievable work. The laminating machine will allow them to preserve their work and bring it home with them to have to look back on when they are older. My kids, as well as myself, are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity”

  • Math Books for 27 First Graders in the South Bronx

    Funded Jan 15, 2004

Thank you so much for funding my proposal. I have been teaching at my school for 5 years now, and there are many things that I am in great need of. My math program this year isn't very good, so I am always looking for alternative ways to teach my kids. These books will GREATLY aid in my teaching. My kids, as well as myself, are extremely thankful for your kindness and generosity”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

I teach a class of 28 bright, lovable and amazing second grade students. I work in an extremely impoverished area in New York City. Although I am not from the area, there is just something about the kids that go to my school that I have become very attached to. My school is a barrier-free school. This means that my school opens its doors to all children in the community, regardless of their physical or mental handicap. You see children in wheelchairs and walkers learning and prospering right alongside their peers. It's an amazing thing to experience.
