    Funded Dec 12, 2007

On behalf on myself and my class, I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being so generous as to donate chapter books to our class. My students are getting smarter by the day and I don't have reading materials that interest and challenge them. With your donation, my children will now have chapter books that they specifically picked out to read and enjoy. Thank you again”

  • Basic Classroom Supplies For 24 South Bronx Second Graders

    Funded Nov 1, 2007

I would like to thank you on behalf of myself and my class for being so kind as to make a donation to our classroom. My kids are in great need of simple every day supplies that my school does not have. It's sad to see children lacking the basic supplies that they need for everyday school use. Your donation will give my children what they need to get through the second grade. I am very grateful, thank you again”

  • Digital Camera for 29 Gifted South Bronx 2nd Graders

    Funded Apr 2, 2007

Thank you so much for being so generous as to fulfill my class's proposal. Most of my students do not have any picture of themselves as babies or throughout their first few years of life. I find that heartbreaking. I bring in my regular 35mm camera and am constantly taking pictures of them. They get so excited when I develop the pictures. I can not wait to see their reaction to having a digital camera for the class to share. Being able to instantly see their pictures will amaze them! You are giving my children a gift that they can have and look back on for a lifetime. THANK YOU!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

  • "A Pencil Box Of One's Own" For 29 Gifted Bronx Second Graders

    Funded Sep 17, 2006

Thank you so much for being kind enough to fund this proposal. I sat down with my new class this year and asked them what they'd most want for school that they do not have now. All of my students answered that they'd love a pencil box of their own filled with supplies. When I informed my kids that their "wish" was granted, they literally cheered! Thank you again for making a 2nd grade class of amazing students extremely happy and excited to go to school”

  • South Bronx Second Graders In Desperate Need Of New Library Books

    Funded May 31, 2006

Thank you so much for being so kind as to fund my class's proposal. I work in an extremely impoverished area, and an everyday object like a book is like gold to my kids. My class literally cheered when I told them that the 40 books that they had hand-picked were coming. Thanks to your kindness, my class will now have a full new library to read when they return in September”

  • Developing Motor Skills for South Bronx 2nd Graders

    Funded Mar 29, 2006

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I teach a class of 28 amazingly bright and talented second grade students. They absorb everything I teach them like little sponges! But, when it comes down to it, they are still only 7 and 8 years old, and need to play and be children just like every other child. The "games" that you donated will help my kids further develop their motor skills, and at the same time, allow them to relax and have some fun! When I told my kids about the donation they literally cheered! Thank you again”

  • Amazing and Lovable South Bronx Second Graders Want To Know about Holidays

    Funded Mar 28, 2006

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my class. My class is full of incredibly bright kids who are eager to learn. They are always asking me about holidays, and I rarely have a book to read to them about it. Now, my children will have the opportunity to learn about the holidays through all of these amazing books! When I told my class about the donation, they literally cheered! Thank you again”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wright

I teach a class of 28 bright, lovable and amazing second grade students. I work in an extremely impoverished area in New York City. Although I am not from the area, there is just something about the kids that go to my school that I have become very attached to. My school is a barrier-free school. This means that my school opens its doors to all children in the community, regardless of their physical or mental handicap. You see children in wheelchairs and walkers learning and prospering right alongside their peers. It's an amazing thing to experience.
